After all these recalls, will you still buy a Toyota product in the future?

The great game of semantics. Then i bet you don't thinkford was responsible for the explorers flipping over and their tires exploding? I bet if it was your loved one it would be a whole different story. People are dead from a faulty vehicle accept it. I hope toyota really gets it handed to them by the senate and will become a better company for it.

When my wife's Highlander gets long in the tooth, we would consider another Toyota, but the Toyota would be part of a mix, not at the top, not at the bottom. There are so many interesting capable cars and trucks out there that anyone would be foolish to limit ones choices. Right now for me i would be looking at a mix of Mazda, specific GM's specific Toyota and Fords VW's and with a long lingering sad look back at Saab.

Definitely. Even in the midst of the recalls the Prius is winning awards from MotorWeek. Toyota and Honda have always made superior vehicles and I believe this will only make them manufacture better ones in the future. I still don't think there is an American manufacturer that can match Toyota and Honda, no matter what Ford advertises. They've all been trying to match the quality for years.

I would consider it. The real question when I buy my next car is who has the most efficient vehicle? I would really like to go electric or possibly a stage after electric (think future here) with my next car so it really depends on who makes the best of what I want.

On this one sentence, you are probability right, I might be in denial as well and looking for someone to blame it on. I like to think I would be an adult, but I never have been before.

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firestone_and_Ford_tire_controversy"]Firestone and Ford tire controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

'Ford investigated and found that several models of 15" Firestone tires (ATX, ATX II, and Wilderness AT) had very high failure rates, especially those made at Firestone's Decatur, Illinois plant.' 'Goodyear tires to the same specification have a spotless safety record when installed on the Explorer' 'A subsequent NHTSA investigation of real world accident data showed that the SUVs in question were no more likely to roll over than any other SUV.' 'A product recall was announced, allowing Explorer owners (and owners of its stablemates) to change the affected tires for others.'

While I am sure Ford is to blame for choosing the tires, the problem follows the Firestone tires.

The only thing that would stop me from buying or looking at another Toyota would be the dealer, I dealt with 6 Toyota dealers in buying a my Prius, and not a single one was honest.

And you think other car manufacture dealers are honest? I sort of doubt it. It is sort of a given that they are not.

I would buy another one. Your just have to be smarter than the dealer.

Yes i'm using Vista. Honestly i dont know anything about "Patch Tuesday" and i dont know why ur comparing Microsoft to Toyota. I personally voted "Yes" because I don't worry about the quality of Toyota's product. They'll only get better after these recalls. However in the foreseeable future I'll not be buying a Toyota not because of the recalls. It's because I've owned so many Toyotas (and Hondas) before and I wanna try something different.

I've dealt with plenty of dealers, they are not all dishonest, most work with you, not one Toyota dealer wanted to work, it was their way or the highway, they didn't need you, and I've never worked with a dealer like that, ever, and I'm talking about 3 major cities, all the same.

The 2009 Prius has one recall, the 2010 Prius has one other recall. (Other Toyotas have a third recall) Microsoft has had 'Patch Tuesday' every single month since 2003 without this level of media frenzy. If Toyota had a recall a month every single month I would worry, one recall per model does not worry me.

I agree with your opinion about Toyota dealers, but I don't see why you would need them so badly.

This site has a great network of knowledgeable people who know the car inside out and can help with their advice.

Your system must be set to perform updates silently in the background. Mine is set to ask before downloading.

Don't know about the mid-west, but we have a BUNCH of independent repair joints out here. As for buying another though? Heck, maybe if I can ever get the dang thing to wear out ... but at nearly 100K miles, it's still going strong.

My first Prius although I have had 5 Corollas (best car on the road) over the last 35 years.

This one will be a long term check out and not a jump on the band wagon and buy one every year. I did that with the Honda Civic Hybrid and regretted it in the long term. It takes a good 4-7 years to see how a product does in all areas. So far I am impressed but will wait and see about the lights and how those pan out with the Plat warranty. MX must be factored into any long term ownership. And there are a few more complex procedures that I hope will be fixed at my local shop and not the dealer.:D

As far as the Volt I hope they and all electric cars do well next year.

Hmm... I thought those were alleged deaths. I don't remember hearing that any had been proven. Remember the Audi! None of the litigants won in a court of law.
