    Everyone,

I am about to get a 05' #4 Ruby Red this weekend and have been reading, reading, reading about all the potential accessories you can get. The mats interest me the most however. The one thing that concerns me is water run-off from the mat - creating like a "ring of dirt" around the car where the mat ends. Has anyone had an issue with the ExactMats? They look like there is not a place for the water to sit - like it would just run off the edges.... ? Any comments? I live in Minnesota, so water/sand/salt/snow is common place.

    Thanks,
    Tony

Ok, ignore me on this one. Apparently with 52 views and zero responses the answer was hidden out there somewhere. It seems through other posts as though there is zero places for the water to pool, it WOULD run off to the edges, so hence I have decided to go with the Toyota all-weather mats from that metroptn or whatever their URL is... $65 and no shipping costs, pretty sweet.

    Hi there vande23...

Kinda "testy" aren't you? Most everyone in these forums is an enthusiastic Prius driver and volunteer assistance on his/her own time - free that is. So, be patient.
"ExactMats" (the clear ones with textured surface and spikes on the backside to prevent sliding around) have plain edges and in a situation like snow and slush you would likely have runoff around the edges.

I own exact mats and the carpeted mats as well. To be honest, the exact mats are not as great of quality that i wouldve expected when i paid 55 for them. Exact mats are just big plastic surfaces cut to fit the prius. There are no edges so rain and dirt will make that ring that you are trying to aviod. If i could, i would have rather gone with the rubber all weather mats, they look much better than exact mats on top of the carpet anyway.

I guess I am used to people replying pretty quickly since there is always so much chatter.

I normally would not put my location in a post, since its already in my profile that is to the left of every post.... (as is yours). I think everyone can see that - or can you turn that off for when you are viewing posts?

    Have a good day! :)

I've been wondering what to get as well. You might want to take a look at these. They purport to catch liquids - but they are more expensive. You can get them custom-fit too. And they have one for the cargo area. BTW, you can have them send you some material samples - I did.

I love my exact mats, but you are all correct....water and slush will just roll off. An easy fix for this is to attach a piece of trim on the edge (the round tubing, available in various diameters with a slice on the side) of the mat - should retain fluid on the surface without rolling off.
But if it snows I'm driving my Jeep Grand Cherokee which has husky liners.......now if only Husky liners made their product for the Prius, that would be the best option.
