When we were first looking at the Prius the difference between the II and III was that the III came with an audio update, a JBL system, bluetooth and sat radio as standard.
Now the only difference is that you can order the Nav Package and the audio system comes with it also you can get the sunroof and remote air conditioner but the audio system is not standard anymore according to the latest online brochure.
Doesn't look like there is any other difference between the two models now except you can buy the two packages.

I may be reading the brochure wrong but then again I may not be.

    This is very interesting.

I just took delivery (2/18) of a Prius III with the JBL audio system and no additional packages (no Nav, no Solar). Love the sound system but I didn't want the Navigation. Essentially the dashboard design is the same for the II and III with no Nav. There is no display screen.

Thats the package my wife wanted but I think all like that will be gone by the time she gets around to buying herself a new car. Our local dealers both have a couple with the JBL system but it looks like they are going with the Nav package now with the latest production runs.

the standard prius ii sound system sounds fine to me. i mean i listen to the radio in the car. What can you expect the radio to sound like on a bose, harman kardon , or a "jbl".

Can't stand the nav system. Like the bluetooth so far though but with a glitch, I have to keep my iphone bluetooth on all the time otherwise I will have to re pair every single time. Personally their centre console is just not worth while. Even the radio doesn't work properly.

Sure wish I could make heads or tails of what this means. I reread your post 4 times and I don't know what you're saying. I guess I'm going to have to go look at the latest brochure myself because my understanding was that the JBL stereo was the major upgrade between Pkg II and Pkg III.

Samething on my car with Nav. Unless the Bluetooth is already on (this is on both an iPhone and Blackberry), when you start the car it will connect right away. But if the car is already on, and you turn on Bluetooth, then you need to manually connect it then. On any of my other cars (MB, Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Acura), if I turned on Bluetooth while the car was already on, it would still connect automatically.

On tje Nav, it's as simple as pressing a few buttons on the screen to manually connect the phone, and then you're done. I don't know how much easier/harder it is to connect the phone manually on a non-Nav car.
