Hello all…I’ve been reading the forum for months waiting my prius (for US it would be a V but with all packages, which for some reason is possible here) and so there is my question: What did you do for Breaking in the engine of your new car and for how long? I am kind of worried about how efficiently someone can run in a CVT.

The owners manual outlines the recommended break in procedure. From memory, for the first 1,000 miles (I believe), don't accelerate/decelerate too quickly, or drive too fast, and vary speed.

    From the Manual

For the first 200 miles (300 km):
    Avoid sudden stops.

For the first 600 miles (1000 km):
Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
    Avoid sudden acceleration.
Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

The Prius doesn't really have a CVT. The Prius has an HSD, which is essentially a variable electrical and fixed mechanical system that acts like a CVT. What this means is you don't have to worry about breaking-in the transmission.

Vary your speed a bit, avoid drag racing and panic stops, and all should be good.

What if you just go 85 in the free way, is that considered going at high speed since the limit is 111 anyway:D

qbee42 is right - don't be worried about that.
    Have fun with your Prius.
