Consumer Reports: mph vs MPG

    I think that it was a mistake to go all the way down to 55 back in the 70s. 55 really does *feel* awfully slow. In a way that 65, or even 60, doesn't. If the limit had been set a little higher, I think that the idea of another national speed limit would not be quite so anathema to Americans today.

    On the other hand, if start it at 55 and tie it automatically (and inversely) with the overall national CAFE number... maybe that would be the best way to convince people to choose their cars wisely.
