How do you remove those wheel hubcap rim/halos??

I don't want to break nothing. Step by step guide? Video? I tried pulling them off with force but their not coming off. Someone stole one of them from my prius and my car looks awkward with a missing halo. Thanks in advance.

Hook a couple of fingers on it and give a firm pull out. They come off fairly easily.

    From darelldd at evnut.com:

Just hook a couple of fingers like this (and use your other hand in an adjacent spot) and yank toward you. Extra style points for not falling on your butt when it pops off.

Alternatively, if you look at the edge of the rim, there a slots, 180 degrees apart, where you can insert a 3/8 wide blade (Stanley 716 offset screwdriver if you can find one), and they will pry right off. They will not break.

You can do it like Doc says but IMO falling on your butt after pulling a trim ring off is like a rite of passage for Prius owners. :)

Only if you're silly enough to be standing off-balance when you're pulling on them. My suggestion, sit down first and pull.

A big screwdriver pops them off. They are really tough and you need not worry about damaging them. (except by hitting a curb.)

i think these wheel cap are useless to me.
I threw mine away when the OEM tyres wore off.
When I change to a new set of tyres I just pull it off and threw it away.
Maybe its some weight off my car and I will have a better fuel consumption..
    hahahah

    No you wont!

They protect the expensive alloy rims from gutter rash.

There's always the "sit, grab onto the ring, yell at driver to gun it" method. Take care driver doesn't back over you while returning for remaining rings.

I'm shocked at how easy these are to remove. I park in the public. One of my halos were stolen. So i decided to remove all to match 8D.

    Oh My god.
Why would some one ever want to steal that.
It must be another Prius owner who had his broken and he came took yours away.
Anyway it looks good showing the alloy rims.:)

I took the plastic wheel covers off my 09 touring 16" (can't believe anyone would leave em on over those cool wheels)

However now I need the small center hub cap -- any ideas muchly appreciated!

Hey did your ride not come with the Toyota hub cap?
I thought all comes with it?

In the United States, the Gen II Touring Edition's 16" wheels came with full wheel covers with the "center cap" being part of the wheel cover.

So people who remove the wheel covers from the Gen II Touring Edition's 16" wheels have to get separate center caps. Usually they get the center caps that came with the Gen II Standard Prius' 15" wheels.

    Oh Boo,
    NOw I know
Because in Singapore the wheel covers are just covering the while alloy rims with a hole in the center.
Removing the wheel covers does not mean removing the center wheel caps...

Do these serve any purpose other then protecting the wheels? Does it effect MPG keeping them on or removing them? TIA!

Many of us have speculated that they probably reduce Cd a bit, but I have seen no data on it. Maybe run a little round trip test on a calm warm day and report?
