My Prius replaces a 1988 Honda Prelude, with only 155,000 miles. The Prelude still runs fine, but the body didn't hold up!

Before the 2010 Prius, it was a 2007 Prius which my husband drives now. And before that it was a 1997 Honda Accord with over 200K miles.

The prius replaced a 1993 Volvo 940 with 150K miles. The Volvo was a nice car, but we were moving from CA to MI and just didn't want to ship a 16-year-old car. Plus, a friend needed a car, so we sold it to him. We lived for a month with one car and we weren't planning on buying so soon, but we got a really good price on a II with February's incentives and a general slow-down at the dealership. Unfortunately, I rarely get to drive it because I work from home. My wife gets to have all the fun!

01 grand caravan. Worst car I ever owned. Decent for the first 3 years, but after that, one problem after another. Our other car is an 03 Honda CRV which I also love. Before that, Subaru Legacy, Honda Prelude, Accura, Mazda and VW.

Corvair by Chevrolet! For 30 years, they have been my wheels.

All these years I have been holding out for something electric.

We recently got a Prius, as a kind of compromise. That car has stolen our hearts. We both want to drive it. And the Corvair is no longer being driven every day.

MB E-320, 2003. One year warrantee, "Certified Pre-owned" ran out, was nervous about car's reliability, so Prius had new car warrantee. Liked it, but became bored with driving it after awhile. traded it on a 2010 Golf. Younger person's car, it seems, by their chat boards, miss the Prius, but not sorry I did it. Got 32/34mpg at end of first tank, dring city, backroads, 42mpg highway. Rated 23/30. MPG dropped when filed tank, 14.5 gallons. Weight of gas? different brand of fuel?=> decreased mpg? Good luck with your Piuses.

Had a 92 Camry which was our first Toyota, been in the family since I was 7 and retired it in 07 with 155K miles for an 08 Accord. Then had a 09 Acura TSX great car, but used premium gas and insurance doubled when we got our renewal. Got our 2010 Prius V on New Years Eve last year, so far I've only been filling it once a month. Everyone is surprised how big and roomy it is, love it!

I bought a 2010 Prius because I got a good deal on it. I have a BMW Z4 as a second car but I love the Prius so much I am thinking about selling it. Prior to buying the Toyota I drove a 1995 Honda Civic Vx as my daily driver. It has 315,000 miles on it and still gets over forty miles per gallon. The Toyota is my first four door car. I love trying to get 65 mpg using the pulse and glide style of driving. I have changed my driving style and really drive much safer and slower now . I have never owned a car and bonded with it like I have with my Prius. I am going to change the oil every three thousand miles with Mobil 1 and I hope to get 315,000 miles on it as well. I really enjoy reading the posts on this board.

Like Moner, I too traded in a MBenz C230 coupe w the sport package.

Loved the car but it kept breaking down. I was averaging 25 mpg. Before the trade in, @ 75,000 miles, the starter motor went out and was a $600 replacement. Besides the starter motor, the car had other problems that still needed to be fix such as parking brake cable (cable had to be replaced; $625), driver seat and steering wheel would not move or tilt.

Plus, I always wanted to own a Prius.

2009 Toyota Matrix Xr. Just had too many bad dealer experiences with it, and it was too noisy and rough around the edges for me. I Love my quiet 2010 Prius.

Lexus GS300. Very nice car. Excellent service staff, couldn't be more helpful. 200k miles and it was still going smoothly. Very well built - over-engineered to perfection. A complete gas-guzzler, the way I drove it - couldn't resist accelerating hard from 70mph. About 17 mpg (that's UK gallons, too).

The Prius was bought to change my driving habits.

Before buying the Prius, I lived car-free for 2 years. Bicycled everywhere even in winter. Amazingly liberating especially if you live within 1 mile of groceries and 5 miles from work. People don't realize how much they are a slave to their cars. Because of some kidney stone issues, I bought a car and gave up the car free life. I saved so much money living car free that I was able to completely get rid of serious credit card debt.

Have always owned used GM cars. Last car was a 95 Chevy Lumina which died in 2005. Turns out GM is famous for using plastic intake manifold gaskets on their 3.1L engines. Coolant in the oil and oil in the coolant eventually led to engine failure. This was a period when I was in extreme credit card debt so routine service beside DIY oil changes didn't happen. Car before that was a 90 Grand Prix - rear engine mounts broke while driving. Steering felt sloppy so I pulled over and restarted the car. Heard a snap and the steering wheel could free spin. Looked under car and rear of engine was hanging down. Assumed steering column snapped as well.
