Testing didn't duplicate sticky gas pedal on man's Prius

    what I don't understand is that the report also said the guy pressed the brakes a lot of times. He might now have pressed it hard enough to trigger the ice engine kill switch.

    On my GenII 2008 Prius (same model and year as his), a gentle press of the brake pedal completely cancels all input from the gas pedal. I've tried this at speed, and the car just begins to brake.

    A firmer press on the brake pedal both cancels the accelerator input AND engages the mechanical brake. Tried this one too, and almost threw myself into the steering wheel at 30mph. The Prius has VERY good brakes.

    I just don't buy his story. If it is a real problem, then my heart goes out to him...but it lacks the ring of truth.

    Only if the non-hybrid Toyota and Lexus are logging as well as the Prius....
