    Hello,

We have a 2005 with package 2. A couple of weeks ago we started having an issue with the drivers door. The car locks just fine by touching any of the black buttons on any of the door handles.

The problem occurs when you unlock the car by opening any of the handles other than the drivers door. All doors unlock except the drivers door and we hear about 8 beeps.

If we unlock the car using the drivers handle, it opens just fine (driver only). We tried re-programming the smart key to 'option 2' that opens all doors when the drivers handle is used, but then the drivers door would not unlock and we get the beeps. We went back to 'option 1'.

Finally, if we push the lock button on the passenger or rear handle, the drivers door will not open when we return if we try to use the driver handle.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Tim

Try a new battery in the smartkey fob, if you haven't replaced it yet. Does the small light near the lock button on the fob still flash when a button is pressed?

I have the same problem and have replaced batteries. All the other doors unlock and there is about 8 rapid beeps. If you manually move the lock button or insert key it will work fine until you have it locked and sitting for a little while.

Sounds like the driver's door lock assembly is binding and needs to be replaced.

I agree with you Patrick. After changing the batteries in the FOBs, still no change. My next step is to change the lock assembly and hope for the best.

    Thanks

    Problem solved!

Turned out it was a weak 12 volt battery. Replaced and problem is gone.

It's funny how many different problems are related to a dying 12V battery in the Prius!
