When I purchased my 07, I was trying to save money and chose package 1, which has no back up camera and keyless entry, thinking I would never want it. WRONG!
Ever since, I would look lovingly at passing Prius with a black dot on the rear hatch, signifying that it is at least one version above mine and that it has a rearview camera.
I have been trying to remedy this by looking at various options to install a rearview camera and came across this.

REARVIEW MIRROR + GPS + BLUETOOTH + CAMERA VIDEO INPUT - eBay (item 280480301603 end time Apr-16-10 13:36:14 PDT)

Has anyone got any experience with these or installed one?
    Thanks

Note the part where it says:

"Video input monitor for Rearview Camera (optional)"

how much is the camera? Do they sell one?

A quick search shows camera starting from 9.99 to $60 for one built in the number plate face. Not bad I suppose.

Those cheap cameras are CMOS devices. They suck in low light situations, high light situations, and high variance in images (like moving fast). You will want a CCD camera which costs more.

I think the Toyota/lexus OEM cameras are CMOS, aren't they?

They make a prius with no keyless entry? I did not know this.

I can't even notice the camera on my car or other Priuses.
