    They're calling 'em "foglights" nowadays?

They used to be called "headlights."
Big and round, standing out proudly in the front.

The distaff version of "shrinkage" I guess.

Although the speculation's been interesting, I think Rae Vynn's guessed correctly. Tune in tomorrow...:)

Some of these were fun guesses! Makes me want to cut my hair, buy a lotto ticket, get my degree, install those fog lights, get a tattoo, and fall in love. :)

Yesterday I had an opportunity to meet in person and have lunch with my friend and fellow Priuschatter, Daniel. We had great fun. He introduced me to Indian food -which I like- and I introduced him to Oolong tea -which he doesn't like.

He got a chance to experience my 2010, he made it clear he did not like the nav unit. ( or maybe it was the crazy driver of the nav unit that was freaking him out.) At one point, I said something to the effect that I realized I sound ditzy when driving and whining about not knowing which way is south... he got really quiet. :) Earlier he kicked my arse in a game of chess too. I don't think I overly impressed him with my intelligence, although it was clear to see that he is a pretty smart guy.

We only argued about God once.

I'm surprised you got past him not liking Oolong tea. That would have been a deal breaker for me. ;)

Daniel and I are friends. I can be friends with people who don't love Oolong tea ( and believe in God) but nope, can not get past those things when looking for a life partner.

:D Sounds like a good time, overall. I'm glad you updated and didn't keep us all in suspense. So what's next? New hair style? Tattoo? Something else? Oh, I know - you and Daniel getting matching tattoos, maybe?

Let's see, where to start? It was a wonderful day. Of course it's always nice to spend time with a gorgeous woman, and Octavia is even prettier in person than she is in the photos we've seen of her. But she's also intelligent, a fine conversationalist, and surprisingly tolerant of my quirks.

You can't blame me for not liking the tea. She wouldn't let me put sugar in it.

The NAV in the 2010 Prius (the first time I've seen a NAV in any Prius) is very poorly designed. My Garmin Nuvi is very intuitive and easy to read. The Prius NAV I could never actually tell from the map and arrows what it intended us to do. And the iPod interface is downright dreadful. Other than that, I quite liked the 2010. I love the backup camera (which I have seen in other cars, including Allan's 2006 (?) Prius and my sister's Lexus). But overall, the upgrade is not enough for me to want to trade in my 2004.

Don't read anything into my getting quiet when she said something about sounding ditzy. I tend to zone out sometimes. It has nothing to do with the person I'm with. I do it even more when I'm alone.

Octavia is not a good chess player. If she cared enough about the game to study openings, and then put some effort into practice, she could be a pretty good player. But I think she enjoyed fooling around more than trying to determine the best moves. Here's the thing: While her moves were not good moves, they seemed more like intentionally silly moves, than like the moves of someone who is just a bad player. She's intelligent enough to know that she will not play well, so she has fun playing silly.

How well you play chess is not an indication of intelligence. It's a very particular kind of mental skill, and it has components of intelligence (problem-solving ability) in it. But some very intelligent people do not play chess, and some great chess players are not intelligent.

We didn't argue about god. We argued about religion, and we argued about whether my attitude against religion was hatred of god. (It's not: Since I don't believe in god I cannot hate god; but I am very hostile towards religion, which I regard as damaging to the soul of the individual and society. Octavia disagrees; and we argued about that.) But she argues with reason, never with anger or personal attacks, so it was an interesting argument. (I hope she feels the same way about me.))

Sadly, she made it clear that it was not a "date." We are friends and I expect we will continue to be. So I'm still available.

And look at this: The psychotic psychic was right:

An electric porch??? I don't have an electric porch. What would en electric porch do? Go up and down? Maybe zap people who ring the doorbell?
