Okay, this is a poll. How far would you travel to meet Octavia? FWIW, I traveled about 300 miles to meet her, and she traveled about 75 miles to meet me.

I fly into Seattle every Thanksgiving. I hope to meet Northwest folks then.

There's no option for those of use who live between 1000 and 4000 miles away?

I drove right by her place a few months ago, and tried to make arrangements to see her, but she was too busy. Pffft. ;)

I was going to say "3x around the world" but then I figured, "heck. I'd make her travel one time and I'll do the other two but I'm not doing all three."

It's just a question of how finely to divide the interval options. If you're willing to travel 4,000 miles but not halfway around the world, check 1,000 miles and then post a clarification stating exactly how far you'd travel.

I personally would not travel more than halfway around the world because, frankly, it'd be dumb: Once it's more than halfway around, a smart person would go the other way instead. :D

Note that the poll question is not how far away from Octavia you live, but rather how far you'd be willing to travel to meet her.

Hmm... more than 100, but less than 500...

Unless it was part of a trip to meet multiple PCers... then, I'd go around the world :D

Oh, wait... I have met her. It was worth the trip :thumb:

Halfway around the world, but only because then I could also visit Chile or Kyrgyzstan, depending on which way I'm traveling.

That last choice is just mean.

I voted 500, but it actually 590 miles from my house to Portland. The GF and I have talked about another trip up to Astoria, maybe this summer if it works out.

Pretty much anyone within 50 miles. Beyond 50, takes special arrangements.

Hmmm, Octavia is located something on the order of 11,000 km from my location.
To solve that puzzle I need to know how fast Octavia is travelling towards me.
Once I know that, I will set my speed accordingly (so as not to seem too eager) and then I can tell you how far I would travel to meet her.

I actually didn't forget that one. I decided it was not a useful option. How far you would travel implies how far would you actually travel, and that requires it actually be possible and within the reach of the person answering. At this time, ain't nobody gonna travel to the moon, much less there and back, and anyway, Octavia is not on the moon, so it is not necessary to go there and back to see her.

Of course, you can always post a post saying you'd go to the moon and back, but we'd know it was an empty boast, unless you happen to have a moon rocket.

Of course, three times around the world is silly, also.

This sounds like an excuse for a roadtrip and party. Who's
    heading for Hybridfest/Greendrive this summer??

I'm currently at the CTIA convention in Vegas. It would have been an easy plane ride for me, had somebody informed me in advance of these plans!

I wanted to meet you! Didn't my son get sick? I know I was planning on it then had to cancel... I was bummed.

:) You are a fabulous reason to visit Chicagoland.

It was great meeting you too! :)

Can I go with you to Chile?

I know! I sure hope no one picks that one. :(

It would be cool to meet you guys. :)

    :) awwww.. that was sweet!

Which direction do I need to go?

Hey, I can "space out" too. (hehe)

Thank God PC'ers are super nice people. You really put me out there on this one bud! I think because we have such fabulous and comfortable cars we are naturally willing to travel more. :p

    Yes!

Hope things are going well at your convention J. :)

I flew over a number of times but the pilot stopped me from dropping in. Something about not opening the plane's door while in flight ... go figure! :(

I believe samiam lives in New Zealand. So you'd have to head more or less south-west. Better waterproof your car. Kiribati is roughly half way. But if you're driving and he's flying, and you travel equal amounts of time, I think you'd have to arrange to meet on a boat somewhere because there isn't much out there otherwise, except water. If I didn't get seasick I'd invite you to sail with me to NZ on my sailboat, which I would have, if I didn't get seasick.

The Day One Keynote was kind of boring, but the actual exhibits are pretty good. I've always liked the Las Vegas Convention Center
