I live in northern NJ and have owned a 2010 Prius since September. What a great vehicle. I do have one annoying little problem with my XM satellite radio:

    First
About once a week, the XM radio will begin to pulse and after 5 or 10 seconds, that XM channel and all other regular XM channels will go silent.

    Second
XM channel 001 will continue to pulse but as just mentioned all other XM channels are silent.

    Third
Although all the XM channels are silent, I do see the text on my display, meaning I can see the song playing, band, program, etc.

    Fourth
Turning the radio off and on, does not correct this condition. However, if I shut the car completely (power off), and then restart the car, the XM satellite radio returns to normal.

Has anyone experienced this, or heard of it happening to anyone they know? If so, have you ever heard of way to regain the signal without completely shutting off the car?

    Thanks.

Did you purchase an XM subscription before your 90 day trial period expired?

I did and I have not had any issues with my SAT radio.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I did purchase the XM package after the trial expired.

The only issue I have had with my SAT radio is once in a great while I will lose the SAT signal when I park the car in my carport at night . When I drive out in the morning, shortly after power up, the SAT signal will come and go momentarily and the Signal Lost display will come and go. Most of the time this will clear up after a second or two.

Once or twice, the song has continued to come and go and has sounded like a broken record. When this has happened, I have been able to turn the radio off and back on and this has corrected the problem.

I have never had to power the car down and then back on.

I have had this sitiuation with Prius 2007, 2009 & now 2010. Once the problem starts, nothing brings it back, just wait until it returns by itself. Since it has happened so infrequenty, I have to assume it is a technical probem with the XM signal!

My 2007 Prius has the very same problem. It happens about every other month or so. I'll be driving along, listening to XM radio, then, all of a sudden, the signal starts fading in and out, then silence. I won't get the signal back unless I turn the car off and then turn it back on.
