Got 3k off the sticker for a 2010 Prius II, plus a few oil changes for free. Leather seats/heated.

Is this a good deal ? I thought it was ok with the hooplah going on about the recalls, but then some people told me they only got $500-$1,000 ?

I negotiated pretty hard though, but I thought at least $2k b/c of what has been going on. I got mine around when James Sikes first started his fraud claim.

I'm shopping for a Blizzard Pearl IV with solar roof in So. Calif. Can anyone recommend a dealer that will sell (actually lease) at invoice or close to it?

I don't remember what the sticker was. The car manufactured 12/09 and it was 24K and change. I didn't really focus on the MSRP.

The price was 22,050 plus a 100 doc fee. The dealer said they know its a good price and that the price was the price. No haggling.

I signed and drove home in about an hour.

Dar Cars Toyota in silverspring maryland. Got the price by searching their autotrader.com inventory.

That's a very good price. I got the same price ($150 more since it had options - mats, etc) -- but I had to fight for it, go through many dealerships - and there was lot of drama. :) :) :) Great job, my friend! Enjoy your Prius!!

This is basically exactly what I've had offered but it was the dealer's first shot--$1950 due at signing covers everything with first payment and 35 more of $189 instead of $199.

I want 18k, though. Another dealer just quoted me $1750 down and 36 payments of $236/month for 18k but I want to do better so seeing what the first dealer can do again.

I dealt with them a number of years ago and it wasn't a great experience. However, I bought by 2010 Prius two weeks ago from Beltway Toyota which is near where route 5 hits the Beltway. It is probably 20-25 minutes from Silver Spring. However, it may be worth your while. It is an old dealership in a not very nice neighborhood, but the best part is that they will deal completely by email and put their prices into writing starting with the first email contact. They also immediately give you a full inventory of the vehicle and there were no weird-o dealer add-ons and no bait-and-switch. The negotiated deal was good not just for cars on the lot but any package/color combination that they can get for you. I didn't speak directly with the sales person until I showed up to test drive the car, sign the paperwork, and drive away.

If you are interested, the internet sales guys name is Michael Dahn and his email address is: [email protected]

Tell him the guy who bought a red Prius IV solar package two weeks ago sent you. See my post earlier in this thread to see how good the deal I received was. Draw your own conclusions, but I still can't complain.

i'm in L.A. I just got my Prius III last week from Longo Toyota. I leased it for $238+tax = $261/mo. ZERO drive-off (nothing out of pocket). 36 months. 12k miles/yr.

This is an amazing deal and amounts to $300 below invoice as a cap cost. The MSRP is $24,8xx and the car was discounted to $23,3xx.

I am very pleased w/my sales person and have already referred a couple friends to him. His name is Adam Chi, internet sales dept. He's upfront & honest. Call him and tell him u want my deal (or better). he'll remember me, Ben with the blue ribbon Prius III.

good luck. Let us know what u end up getting.:mod:

    Hi BSNF,

It is a pretty good deal. I think you can still knock off another $200 -- but it all depends on your *guts* and negotiations skills. Other than that -- $200 will not make any difference to your well-being. In other words -- the price is not inflated, and you will be happy either way with your Prius! :) Welcome to the family! :) Enjoy the gas savings! :)

Package III in red with solar/nav package, 3M door edge protectors and floor/hatchback mats.

    MSRP $28279
    PAID $26010

Basically it was $300 under invoice.

Completely zero hassle with most of the work done over email. One trip for a test drive, a couple of emails back and forth and a trip back to the dealer to sign the papers.

Agreed on a Prius II tonight, it looks like price is $22,200 or so, supposedly $550 below their invoice (which seems to have less meaning as time goes on these days, eh?).

Anyway, $1750 down includes first payment, then 35 more payments at $230 and this for 18,000/year. I could have trimmed a touch more off but I didn't want to waste too much time or be too much of "that guy" having dealerships bicker back and forth with me for $5/month payment. Honestly I think I got a darn good price in the end.

Hopefully in three years somebody else can run along the highway at 94 mph and Toyota can redo their incentives :D

I wouldn't spend $25K without doing all my own research. You can get some basic pricing information, including the invoice price here:

New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com

And if you really want to know how much the dealer paid for the car, including dealer incentives and holdbacks, you should get the consumers reports price report for whatever car your interested in buying. It is worth the $14:

New Car: Things to consider from Consumer reports when buying a car

There is an amazing amount of car buying info on the web, both free and paid. These two are my favorites but there are lots of others...

Bottom line, you really need to know how much everything is worth before you start negotiating so that when the dealer throws you a curveball you can decide whether you should stay and argue or walk. Take your time and don't be rushed, you are spending over $20,000, it should take you 200x longer to make up your mind then it would spending $100!

If you don't really want the leather seats and don't mind flying/driving a ways to get the car to save $1000, check out Carmax (they own a Toyota dealership) in Maryland: http://www.carmax.com/enUS/search-r...8+15+9&Q=b3eab236-e9e4-4b62-b02b-e3f2cbc77c53

Guys, without leather seats I paid $22,300 -mats, applique, wheel locks that I did not need, other stuff (plus tax) MSRP $24,566 after visits and visits to diff. dealerships. I think BSNF is getting a great price without much pain, as I had. Really -- I would pay additional $500 for leather seats. Go ahead, my friend -- buy it.
