Doing the hood is super easy if you don't do the edges. What kind of film and how much coverage do you get for $25? I'd be weary.

Waiting at the shop getting it done. Just screwing around on the phone. The staff here is annoying. Some customer is talking about how some girl played him. Ugh.

I have the 3M Scotchgard film on my car and posted about the installation on this thread:

    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ondering-whether-buy-clear-plastic-bra-5.html

I've since had my front bumper cracked and will need to replace both the bumper and the film. My insurance (State Farm) covered both. I have a pretty low deductible so it was no issue. Price to redo the bumper film was $399 and was covered in full as I had already applied the deductible to the front bumper replacement (@$850). Installation is by a 3M certified installer (they train the techs that do the installations at the dealers) that did the original install..

Given that the front of this car is a rock magnet, I think clear bra coverage is worthwhile. Whether you are comfortable going DIY is another issue. I'm fairly handy (used to do my own ring and valve jobs on my old VW), and I still wouldn't care to undertake this myself.

awesome, I'm interested to see how it comes out. But yeah, after my bungled tint job initially, I'm also not too keen on having anymore issues.....esp since tint is easier and cheaper, the tint is just on a pane of glass. A messed up clear bra is 100x worse b/c it is on your clear coat and paint. I called around and most places charge what an insurance deductible for a repaint would be ($800-$1,500+).

I have a few chips already anyway. Just use carnabu wax, clay bar, and the touch up paint with the pen tip they sell at the dealer. Later on down the line if it is bad I'll just repaint it for the same cost.

    here's a few links:

^^^^scroll down a bit and check out the pictures of the lambo. I know they say that if you properly take off the bra, etc, etc it should not damage the car, but those pics are intimidating. That's the not the first time I've heard of a clear bra removal taking off the clear coat and a layer of paint. I saw a Subaru with the same deal here in the parking garage I park at for work.

^^^^here's my limo tint. The cops here don't really care, but I know some states and areas it is more of a problem. Every other car I see has limo tint so it's not that big of a deal, but other states I've been to I don't see anyone with limo tint so
