I think I will be contacting Virginia/DC Toyotas. Looks like they have more stock. But again, I still evaluating whether to get a 2006 come August 16.... There may be more tax deduction coming in 2006.

    Thank again to all!

I also wanted a package 4 or 5, but in Southern California you can only buy pkg 1,3,5... :(

So i ended up with 3.

I got my 04 prius from sunrise toyota in oakdale

i would rate them as 'ok', but i got the car at a time when the salesmen knew very little about it. My wait time was about 9 months. I also bargained $500 off msrp and free lifetime oil changes. I'm sure you can do the same or better.

I have no idea about now, but i would assume a lesser wait time.

I'd say that the wait time is 0 days here in the Dallas area. I know that TX Toyota of Grapevine and Toyota of Irving have anywhere between 4 and 10 Prii on the lot at any given time. I have also been told that Toyota of Richardson has 24 (!) on the lot.

A month ago, when I called a few other dealers, one of them gave me a wait time of over a year. I'm not sure what their deal is. Perhaps they have a miniscule allocation and the people on the wait list don't realize we have over a dozen Toyota dealers in the area.

When I am ready to buy, I anticipate going to the dealer and driving my car off the lot that same day.

I recommend Alexandria Toyota, just outside of DC. They're the third largest Prius dealer in the United States, and are very nice to deal with. They have a variety in stock at any given time, but they turn over every few days. Most of their vehicles have Package 6 (BC). Only 2, 4, and 6 are sold around here.

Call 800-766-9767 or visit Alexandria Toyota. My salesman was Rob Barnhill, who did a great job. If you talk to him, tell him I bought a Tideland on July 20. :)

I just got mine a few days ago. I didn't expect to buy any car that day. It just happend that a silver Prius Package #3 sitting in the lot with 6 miles on it. The sale person told me I could buy it since the person who order the car change his/her mind.

Wait varies around Philadelphia area. I contacted 12 different dealerships and received a range of responses from "in stock" to "1-3 month wait".

Picked up the exact car I wanted (white #4 package) 2.5 hrs after entering the dealership Thursday night.

The dealer where my husband works here in Durham has a few on the lot at almost all times. Every time I've stopped by I've seen at least 3.

Glad you had a good experience. Alexandria Toyota does have good stock, unfortunately, my sales person was horrible. Took over 3 hours to get the car, she selected the wrong car (not my color choice), unfortunately I didn't find out until waiting for 2 hours. Then we both drove out to the back lot, we walked to the car I wanted and I pointed it out, then she went back to the car to get the paper work and started writing up a different car.

I know a three hour wait sounds like nothing to those that have waited for cars to come in stock, but they had at least a half dozen in stock and it should have been a normal prep & go, which the manager says is normally 35-45 minutes. While I was waiting I saw 3 people come in and buy cars and finish. Even some of the sales team was commenting that I had been there a long time.

She also told me that the $199 dealer charge would include the DC title fee, which they did not honor and that I could charge $3,500 on my credit card (wanted the points) which they did not honor either, I was only able to charge $2,500 and wrote a check for the remainder.

They ended up doing a less than good job prepping the car - pieces of the protective plastic still around the display and dash components, etc.

The finance guy was nice, but promised to call my insurance agent and get the info needed, I received a call five days later asking for the same information I gave him.

At this point, my recommendation would be to stay away from Alexandria Toyota. If you do want to try them, then try the salesman recommended above by hyrbrideyes.

    Cheers,
    Jeff

Any federal tax deductions are based on the year you put the car in service and not the model year of the car. If you can wait until 2006 then there might be more coming from the feds but I doubt it. IMO, the "Tax Credit" won't happen. It was just the usual case of mis-speaking.

I waited 3 days. Like Pbot I just bought my Prius. Although I didn't call 12 dealers, there were 7 within 40 minutes of my house, so I called all of them. I heard wait times from 1-2 weeks up to a month and a half, but I live near San Francisco, where I see such a high concentration of them, that I assume a large portion of Toyota's stock just gets funneled here. I got lucky (or perhaps it was just persistance) and found a dealership what would have exactly what I wanted three days later. I could have driven one home the day I went out to get it if I had taken the Tideland color, instead I waited so I could get a silver one. I didn't like the tan interior, and after hearing of people waiting 4-6 months, I figured 3 days was nothing.

I'm from North Texas and most dealers had been stating 4+ months. We placed an order late October 04 - took delevery June of this year. White with #6 package. It was worth the wait.

There are dealer here will get them sooner or sell one at an inflated price. But I pay for instant gratification.

Was told by my dealer the production has increased and wait time has lessend.

Hey if you don't want the wait, come down, lots of places in Texas have them, especially RURAL dealers, forget Austin. If you are interested I will give you the dealer's Internet Link and a salesman. Mine came from there, they are fair and only sell by the sticker, no mark ups.

Any idea of how long it typically takes between the time a Prius is actually manufactured and it is delivered to a dealership?

My wait just hit 3 months here in Connnecticut, and I've known I'm "next" for the past few weeks. I was offered a Silver #6 this week, but declined. I'm holding out for a Tideland #6. We'll see what this week's allocation report might bring me.

In the North Florida-South Alabama area (100 mile radius from Panama City, FL) there are at least 50 Prii available right now. I ordered mine last Wednesday and picked it up last Friday. They didn't have what I wanted in stock locally but got it from a dealer in another city. I've been told that there's more production now but it may well be that around here they're still in love with them big, good ole trucks and there's not as much demand as in other places.
