Sorry, the MDX is EXTREMELY useful and a GREAT car for what we bought it for. We often haul six or seven people around and I doubt another Prius would do that. We also haul furniture, supplies, etc., that would not fit in a Prius. The MDX is a WONDERFUL truck (car) and I'm glad we have all three of them.

BC pkg plus leather seats. Err... leather 'faced' seats - whatever that means - anyway they look like leather seats to me. Does anybody know why they call them leather 'faced' seats?
Found it at a dealer nearby, called him on the phone and told him I would be by shortly to pick it up. When I got there it was ready to go - no waiting. :D paid MSRP.

Previous cars (which I still have)
    2001 Chrysler 300M - dark blue - 11,500 miles
    2001 Pontiac Aztek - blue - 77,000 miles
    1992 Chev Cavalier Z24 convertible - teal - 181,000 miles
1976 Chev Vega GT - dark blue - 135,000 miles

theProgrammerGuy: Congradulations, leather face means only the seat and back part are leather, the rest is another material. Best of luck and welcome to Priuschat.com.

Thanks. I have to admit my new Prius more than makes up the void left by the old one (though it doesn't get quite the attention the old one got in '00/'01 :)

acura glt - great engineering, very poor paint job and dashboard + interior design (dashboard cracked and paint peeling after 3 years in the new orleans sun)

New member here from Spalding, Lincolnshire, England.

Just brought a 2007 Vermillion Red T Spirit (top spec in the UK complete with reversing camera and Intelligent Parking Assist). Got a good deal as it was an ex lease car with 60K on the clock which was serviced in November 2009 a couple of months before the lease company dispatched it to an auction and a general car dealer brought it. I only do around 4K a year so expect it to keep it for quiet a few years.

Last car was a 1999 Corolla 1.6GS Liftback which never let me down in 7 years or so of motoring. Because of its reliability we brought a 2003 Yaris T Spirit last year for my other half. The commanding driving position in the Yaris compared with the Corolla probably encouraged the thought that it was time to change the Corolla, combined with the increased availibility/affordability of Second Gen Prius following the launch of the 3rd Gen,and the savings in road tax and petrol combined with low interest rates made the cost of the bit of finance required a non brainer. Essentially the savings pay for the finance.

Will probably keep the Prius until 5th or 6th Gen Prius comes out (I suspect a 4th Gen Prius will come along quite quickly given all the problems with 3rd Gen) and get the previous model used - never buy new - I believe in letting someone else take the depreciation hit.

    Previous cars:-

1985 FSO Polonez - it was cheap, and based on a classic Fiat design of the 1960's the 125. Updated as it had the convinience of a hatchback. However of the various Eastern Bloc cars available in the UK (Skoda, Lada, Wartburg and FSO) the FSO was the most unreliable. Gearbox suddenly lost 3rd gear. Went to auction and got £100 less than what I paid for it! Said it was cheap!

Next 1980 Ford Escort 1.6L 3dr Hatch. Quick accelaration but rust eventually did its normal work on UK Fords of that era.

Next 1986 Ford Escort 1.3 Popular Hatch - should have learn't really - yes Ford engines were reliable, but up until the 1990's they seemed to have the ability to rust even in dry weather and when kept in a garage!

Next 1992 Rover 214Si - Nice car first with remote c/l, electric windows and was the result of British Leyland's collaboration with Honda. Only reason for changing was that rust was starting to show, and Rover's did not have that much better reputation for rust than Ford's.

Next was Toyota Corolla 1.6 GS mentioned above. This was a good enough car to commit me to the brand. A car that was made in the UK that did not actually rust! OK a small bit was beginning to appear on a wheel arch caused by a stone chip but it was over 10 years old. The great thing about this model of Corolla was the huge boot (thats trunk to American readers), with the rear seats folded it could take so much. I looked at the next (and final Corolla) model when it came out and they seemed so small by comparison, and vowed to keep my Corolla until Toyota brought out a car that was a spritual succesor in body style to my Corolla. The Auris certainly wasn't - too fat for the garage and again not the length in the boot unless you go for a Verso. The Second Gen Prius though is in design the spritual successor to my Corolla - OK not quite as deep a boot as the Corolla and the arrangement with the seats folded is not ideal - the floor space is not flush with the rear of the passenger seats, but with the right protective covers it should be able to cope with trips of garden waste to the tip - if I need to make an extra trip who cares? It won't cost me as much in petrol!
