Just purchased a Blue II with only floor mats. It was hard to find a II without a bunch of extras I did not want/need. Probably could have pressed for a slightly better deal, but ended up a couple hundred over invoice. Had to fight to get $1000 instead of a lousy $500 for my trade, but still feel a bit ripped off there (but what can you do when your car has 120K miles and needs $1500 dollars of service?)

I'm sure I could have probably saved maybe a few hundred more, but it was the color and base model I was looking for and had lost some of my will to fight :)

I figure I'm getting great value paying only 22K for such a good/reliable car, and will continue to save through gas, maintenance and strong trade over the lifetime of the car.

I had a love/HATE 10 year relationship with my Passat AWD wagon, and am looking forward to a lower maintenance (literally and figuratively) relationship with my new Prius (starting tomorrow.) I'v learned the hard way that its worth sacrificing "farfegnugen" for peace of mind and reliable/affordable/sustainable basic transportation... at least until I add the supercharger fuel cell.

Just joined the world of Prius!

    I got the following:
    2010 Prius III
    Winter Grey
    Navi
    Sunroof
    Bluetooth

$305 a month with $899 down. MSRP was $28,500 and I got em down to $26,450.

I live in South Florida, USA. I was going to buy a Prius in the fall, but after reading about all the recalls and complaints, I figured Toyota would be anxious to bargain with me to get a sale. So I went in on the next-to-last day of the month (another incentive) and haggled for a while. I got $1700 off MSRP on my II, but with the destination charge, floor mats (try to buy one without 'em) and Blizzard Pearl paint (It's a pretty color, but is it worth $220?) I was almost back up to list.

2 days later, I read in the business section of the local paper that Toyota dealers all over the country are hurting badly, except for South Florida which is setting sales records.

To their credit (Palm Beach Toyota), the salesman was straightforward and showed me the bottom line prices instead of all the nonsense I'm used to from car salespeople. They don't charge that bogus "dealer fee" after the bargaining is done, and they only charged $140 to transfer the registration (worth it to me to avoid standing in line). And they gave me book for my 2001 Honda Civic.

To their debit, I got hammered for over an hour by the finance guy trying to sell me the extended warranty and about 20 (!) other useless, high-dealer-markup items. I bought the window tint which I wanted anyway for $199. Yeah, I could have found it cheaper, but then I'd have to drop off the car or wait for it. When I picked up the car from the dealer, the window tint was done.

I love the car, and from what I'm reading here, I didn't get slammed too badly in the deal.

Bottom line, I recommend the dealer - just don't buy the add-ons!

Just picked up our 2010 on March 31.
I got the level 4 with sun roof in white. Toyota web site build price is $32,050.
    I paid $28,998.
My out the door price tax title tags and assorted fees was
    $30,391.
Also got the 2 year free maintaince for return Toyota customers. (08 prius and 08 sion)

    so I would say I got a $3,052 discount.

I just bought a 2010 IV with solar sunroof package and was able to negotiate $2900 off of MSRP but had a hell of a time getting the car here and actually had to do paperwork on 2 different cars because the one I bought was wrecked at the shipyard. But for a month of nothin' but trouble trying to get the car, the dealer made it worth it in the end.

I will pick my Prius up this Friday 12/10/10 Pirus II I paid $21,878 and got 60 month no interest loan. Judging by the attitude of the dealer I felt that I got a good deal, but he had a large inventory of 2010s and 2011 is just a few weeks away.

I also purchased on the last day of the month, this was back in July of this year. Bought a Blizzard Pearl III w/Nav and Mats for $22,088. Works out to be $4,727 below MSRP... I ran it against Kelly Blue Book the next day, and Trade-in Value was more than I paid! I think I got very lucky with timing being as gas prices were down, bad publicity was up, and the dealer was desparate for a sale!
