I don't have the navagation package fr my poison but someone was askin me about it. Does the window tint heavily affect the navagation system to work correctly ? I tried finding a thread here about that to no avail. Thanks.

I could see it might if you were tinting the windshield, (rarely legal anyway) but the other windows are so far away that I doubt even metallic tint could make a difference.

yeah i think the issue was the metallic effect from the tint, but I was curious as to if it was problematic. I was thinking the same thing.

I've had 4 cars tinted (all had navigation), all with tint that was non-ceramic and never had a problem. That's all the windows being done except the front windshield.

If you use a Metal based tint, it will affect the GPS receive. It will also affect cell use. Dye and Ceramic are no problem.

Isn't the GPS ant on the roof?

The Gen II antenna is in the car dash under the windshied. That is why I mentioned it. The Gen III antenna is part of the roof antenna system. They moved it exterior of the cabin.
Any METAL based tint, if used on ALL windows, WILL degrade cell reception in the cabin interior. More importantly it will impede the tiny phones transmitter sgnal from getting out of the car back to the tower.

My dealer had it installed as an upgrade. No problems at all.

I have tint on my V+Nav. I made sure to select a "high performance", non-metallic based film both out of nav and cell considerations and haven't had a problem with it.

If you're going to tint, I suggest getting the 3Mâ„¢ Crystalline Automotive Window Films, which has no metal to interfere with any electronics. That should address your concerns.

I plan to have my Prius III tinted in June. It is going to cost me $520 with tax to get it done, so this particular tint is not cheap.

I also suggest you check with your DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) to determine what type of tint is legal. In North Carolina, it has to be 35% minimally visible, no darker.

It's a valid question. A metallic tint can restrict signal transmission for satellite and mobile phones.

Mine works while driving -- it has to, otherwise it wouldn't be able to tell me where to turn.

My tint is full metallic not ceramic. I don't have any signal or gps issues. I'm guessing for my friend it will not be an issue. I prefer the grey charcoal tint color to the tea hue on ceramic tints.

I have tinted all my windows and top 4" of windshield on my Prius V plus Nav. I made sure to select an elite non-metallic based film both for nav and cell reception and haven't had a problem with it at all. My bluetooth and cell usage is great as well as my nav is very accurate and fast. :)

I am deciding on what car I want (civic sedan, civic hybrid, insight, prius v adv. tech. package...) Do you know of any good deals at Toyota in Houston? Or a good dealer/salesman? I'm looking for a good experience, but also a great deal.
