Thank You so much!!! Now I don't have to spend $80 at Coastal Electronics. That makes me so happy, especially since I'm very mad at them never want to do business with them again. I can handle the PITA of the "I Agree" screen. Wish I would have known this last month when I input the wrong destination to get to my sister's wedding and couldn't check it (as the passenger)... Oh well, we were late for pictures but made it for the ceremony

My NAV works fine when I use the override mode. If the sensor is not working, it would only effect the system if you were not receiving a GPS signal (tunnel, lower level of a bridge etc). I still think this is a great find. I will only use it if a passenger is in the car. I do think it is dangerous to fiddle with it while driving.

Just look back through this thread. The first post tells you how to do it on a Lexus and then there are detailed instructions with pictures further into the thread

I too found myself distracted enough to not be as safe as I could when I was looking for the nearest dunkin-donuts en-route while on the interstate.

But then I find myself more absentminded when I am conversing with a passenger.

Man, didn't realize en-route only works for POI categories.

Only downside I found while driving through Connecticut last weekend was that I asked for a route too late to pick up the good exit I had just passed. Destination suddenly got further away than the original estimate when the final route was calculated. Stopping to do it the right way wasn't an option right then, but since I could pull off the override I didn't plan ahead on where I was going for dinner. Until they sneak in a firmware fix to eliminate the override, planning is just a good option.

Was followed by a Silver Prius for a mile or so on Route 4 in Farmington. Man, those headlights are bright...

That has happened to me even when I planned the trip from the start. Luckily I already knew the route, ignored Dora, and took the turns I knew were right ahead of time. Dora would simply re-map the route - and the time and distance would suddenly update to a more expedient solution.

Once past a destination, she never says "turn around in the next driveway, silly, and go back." She always seems to want you to move forward and do a loop.

I wonder how may more miles I have needlessly driven in areas I didn't know?

There was one time I didn't get a changed route. I was going way out in the boonies and at the time was on the road my destination was on. Suddenly I got instructions to turn off that road. When I ignored them, I got several requests to make a legal U-Turn (what, she was afraid?). When I did turn and took the suggested road it was happy, but then suggested I turn off that road and go down a road that's best served by pack mule.

I have no "avoid areas" set up, but she did NOT want to go that way. I really had no choice, there was only one road.

I was able to get to the Satellite view screen, and "played" a bit with that Diagnostics Screen. I've noticed that there is a "Camera Check" button that is greyed out. I know, we in US don't get the camera like the Japanese version does, but is there a way to hook up your own perhaps?
Why do we get a stripped down version of Prius and don't get all the toys like the Japanese do. I think the self parking would be kind of fun to try, although I bet I can park faster. It still would be cool to have.

Maybe I missed it, but another advantage is that when you press on a POI while moving, yo can now press the INFO button on the screen and see addresses, coordinates, phone number. That was greyed out before.

Re: Found the way to override Navigation without cutting wir

I was very happy when I saw this post. After playing with the override setting for a few minutes I decide to be brave. That was a mistake!

I went into the “loading†menu and tried changing the setting. I thought maybe it would change (perhaps turn off) the “I agree†screen during navigation startup. I choose the blank option at the bottom of the list and held the ok button until it beeped.

The display restarted and came up with a blank green screen with the message “please insert the correct Navigation discâ€. Now, no matter what I do all I get for navigation is that screen.

Anyone know of a way to reset the navigation system? I looked at the unit itself but could not find a reset switch on any of the PCBs.

I will try taking the car to the dealer but I am not sure that they will what to do either.

The worst part is that I’ll keep wondering what would have happened if I had chosen a named option on the loading menu. If I figure out how to fix this I will not be able to resist trying again.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. I've steered clear of the other buttons on the service menu. I guess it's a good thing.

I would tell the dealer a kid was playing with it and when I came back it was like that. They might fix it for free.

Try ejecting the DVD, then reinserting. This may trigger a "DVD loaded" signal to the system and get you going.

The override function can be undone by holding the "Override" button again until it beeps. Perhaps holding the blank option again until it beeps would undo whatever changes you made.

I don't think he can get to the NAV Menu screen until he gets past the "Please load the correct DVD" first. Catch-22.

Re: Found the way to override Navigation without cutting wir

That’s exactly right, I can't get to the hidden menu anymore. All of the navigation buttons take me to the “please insert the correct map disc†screen, and that screen does not respond to the “upper left/lower left†treatment (or anything else that I can think of).

I have tried ejecting and reinserting the disc and a “full factory reset†from the hidden menu in the display screen. Nothing has helped.

I guess I will try taking it to the dealership sometime next week.

My only other idea is to temporarily remove the backup battery from inside the navigation box. The battery is soldered to a wire running off one of the PCBs. I’m not sure I want to mess with that unless absolutely necessary.

Does anyone know of a place where I might be able to get different map DVDs? Maybe I can find the one it’s looking for.

The navi in my old MR2 Roadtser (Spyder) always said to me "If possible make a ewe turn"

Now if I was Welsh I could understand ...

A nice feature I just recently used was the add a preferred road on a trip to Houston. We wanted to take a shortcut on a specific road but couldn't get the route to go there, so I tried adding it manually and it worked okay. The only hiccup was that accidentally adding the business version of the road so I ended up going through a town.

I could see this being useful though if there is a specific road I know it is good to take and the route guidance doesn't use for some reason. A little time consuming to add manually though, I doubt I could safely do it driving without a passenger.

I just tried this mod, it doesnt work on my Prius :( EU version with V2 DVD.

I think you guys in the states have a different navi unit from us in the EU, so maybe thats the reason.
