So I picked up my 2010 Prius II last night and was telling the dealership about how Toyo extended the free 2 yr 25,000 mile maintenance to ALL buyers now, previously only just for previous Toyota owners. They were adamant that I was wrong. So today, I send them 3 links showing them they were wrong and they told me to come in and they'd get me signed up...

So I get there and they sign me up for the basic level which just appears to cover oil and fluid changes every 10,000 miles. (10k miles because of synthetic oil)

I was reading that the original program extend to previous Toyota owners was the "premium" level which also included the major services at 15,000 30,000 and so on...

My question is, has anyone gotten the free maintenance and if so, what level were you given? I've sent an email to the dealer telling them I think i was put on the wrong level but have yet to hear back.

Maybe you should think about including links and more info. After like 5 posts you can include links (post it elsewhere), or simply post it a ww - dot - whatever - dot com...

Do a few searches - there are no major services on the 2010 Prius through 100K (coolant swap - *not* major).

Yes - cabin filters and air filters at 20K/30K. Oil is now 10K, and tire rotations are still 5K (but really - who's going to do that - let it go to 10K).

Spark plugs - 120K, inverter 150K and so on...

So for a 2 yr 25K plan, you are saving 2 oil changes, and technically 5 (really 2) tire rotations.

There are people that paid $1000 for that 2yr 25,000 mile Premium maintenance plan. $1000 for 2 oil changes and technically 5 (really 2) tire rotations is a huge rip off.

Dealers are all scumbags for selling that stuff.

There's no such thing as a free 2 year 25,000 free maintenance from Toyota. It's a dealer-specific thing, which is why your dealer eventually agreed to it.

It's apparently available in Pittsburg. To answer your question, the first major service for the Prius is 30k miles so unless they're going to charge you for tires rotation and brakes/fluids inspection premium appears to be the same as basic up to 25k miles.

I see...I wonder what the difference is beyond 25K (I have the 5-year maintenance package...whether it's premium or standard I have yet to determine).

Don't know if it's regional or not but it was included with my 3/10 Prius purchase here in MIchigan. Salesman mentioned it at the outset and made it sound like it was part of the incentive round ending 4/5/10 and that it was being provided by the manufacturer.

Its inclusion was confirmed during the payment meeting with the finance manager and I was given a copy of the paperwork on a Toyota Financial Services form. It specifies a 2 year, 25,000 period with a plan code of S21, coverage level: Premium. Purchase Price -0-.
The service interval is 5,000 miles and the dealer made it clear it included the correct 0W-20 oil called for in the manual.

I googled and premium includes tire rotations, as well as the "major" maintenances every 30k miles specific to the Prius.

Betcha that was sold by the dealer and was not a freebie from Toyota. How much did you pay for it?

The only additional cost was the MPP (Mechanical Protection Plan) up to 5 years.

Quick question: do I have to take my Prius back to the dealer where I bought it to get the free maintenance? Or can I take it to any participating dealers?
