I have read all the threads I could and I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on my maintenance plan.
We bought a used 05 prius last july with 70K. it had just gotten new tires and had had its 60K maintenance. we bought from the dealership that maintained it.

Since then, we have only had an oil change at our local mechanic.
We have not had issues but we are reaching 80K miles and i just want to make sure we are doing what we should to keep our car for a long time in good shape.

I was first thinking about bringing it to dealership but changed of mind since (bad reviews in chicago area) and found a mechanic on cartalk specialised in toyotas.

here is what I was going to do(taken from maintenace list)
    clean/adjust rear brakes
    PCV valve replacement
rotation/alignment (the front wheel feel like they need some help)
    coolant fluid check?

    Myself:
check the 12v battery via the system check
make sure last owner replaced air and engine filter

Is there anything i should do?
    Am I overthinking this? :)

Regarding the coolant fluid check, you can do that yourself: just look at the translucent containers behind the radiator and mounted on the inverter side. The liquid should be pink and at or near the full marks.

I suggest that you have the transaxle ATF replaced now.

The rear brake clean/adjust is optional.

I was referring to the sticky "what service to do and what not do " in the forum.

I did take look at the toyota list for 80K it the usual oil /filter change.

ok well I ended up scheduling an oil change at Kenji's (skokie, referred to me by cartalk mechanics, specializes in toyotas)
and then we will see what he recommends.. at least I have a vague idea of what should be done.
