Anyone mounted a Nexus One car dock kit from Google yet? I'm wondering whether the windshield or dashboard is the preferred location.

Maybe getting a proclipusa.com vent mount and stick the dock to it?

With the navigation I can't find the need for the car dock with my Nexus One. With Bluetooth audio and phone you don't really ever have to touch your phone while in the car.

i have been loving the google nav that comes on the HTC Desire ROM from Modaco running on my nexus one. the nav is still in beta but totally improves the function of the phone's gps. i havent tried any mounts for my phone but was considering the google mount for it until i found that it was $55...way overprice IMHO.

Decided to mount my car dock on the Proclip center vent mount.

    Here are pictures.

Navigation isn't the only reason to use the car dock. It charges the phone and places it a more convenient place for user interaction.

To be honest, I find Android navigation more convenient to use. Not better than the Toyota Nav, necessarily, just more convenient. My friend can email me an event address when I'm not at my vehicle. I can turn that address into the location of a calendar event. When in my car, I simply press the link to the address. No need to do more data entry.

    Cost:

$55 is definitely steep. So is the ~ $40 delivered cost of the Proclip. :-P

Make your own judgement on that, I guess.

The dock comes with a sticky pad as well as a suction cup. If you need to replace it (it can melt in hot, direct sun during the summer), you can use 3M Command picture hanging strips (2 or 3 of the Medium size).
