    Quality is fair - seem a bit flimsy and I'd prefer heavier gauge plastic and a smoother overall line inside the wheel well. They look OK - although I think it's a much cleaner look without them.

    For me they are purely functional, as in the snow belt pebbles often end up mixed with road salt and your rocker panels get sandblasted. Mud guards help a little, but the down side is the condensation that rests between the plastic guards and the metal it abuts. Basically you trade one problem for another.

    They were very easy to install (I took the rear wheels off to make it easier, total less than 30 min job). I considered painting mine body color but the wheel well side is so irregular it would look weird, and as flimsy as they are I don't think any adhesion promoter is going to keep paint from peeling through the travails of winter and car washes.

    I installed the mudguards today.

    The fronts went on easily without removing the front tires. The holes on the guards lined up with existing holes on the car. Simple.

    The rears required me to remove the rear tires. I used the jack from the trunk and made sure to stay out of anywhere near the underside of the car. (One of the wheel lug nuts was much looser than the others. Car has 1500 miles and the wheels have never been removed, so I checked the lug nuts on the front wheels to be safe and they were tight.)
    There are three bolts, and only one used an existing bolt hole. I had to screw the other two bolts into plastic on the car. No big deal, but a poor design nevertheless.

    I am happy with the look and what I hope will be decreased maintenance of the sides of the car. I'm glad I bought them.

    Sorry, I don't own a camera. The guards are so minimal that even contrasted on my silver car they are barely noticeable.

    Mud flaps arrived from PC shop today. No instructions in the box. The instructions on the PC PDF's say nothing about drilling, but drill you must.

    All you have to do with the front set is turn the wheels to full lock, remove bottom two 10mm threaded bolts and the top plastic 'plug', offer up the flap to the correct location and re-install the bolts and I used the same 'plug' that came on the car. It seemed sturdier than that which came in the kit.

    The rear set require that the wheels be removed. The top hole is drilled into a painted surface and a threaded tab but pushed on to locate a screw. A little care here to make sure you don't drill too big a hole and leave enough 'meat' to relocate the screw. The middle hole and bottom screws are self tapped. Hold the mudflap firmly in position and screw away!

    One word of caution, don't over tighten.

    I also removed the aero wheel covers and installed the Yaris center caps at the same time. The whole look is very cool as last Friday I had 30 tint installed all-round, including both sections of rear window but not the windshield.

    Hi there...

    I am considering these down in Texas for my gen 3. Are these meant to be installed yourself, or by the dealer once you get them? How difficult are they to install?

    I have the model III and didn't have to do any drilling for the screws. I pushed it just enough to put a mark on the bumper for the top screw, and just used a little force and the screw self-tapped through. The other two I just screwed in as well. I used the little tab on the top one, but otherwise, no drilling required for me. Took me about 1.5-2 hrs, but most of the problem was getting the car jacked up enough on a sloped driveway to get the wheels off the back. I also wasn't in a hurry so took my time, as it was 90 degrees out Saturday when I put them on.

    Since installing my mudguards my highway mileage has decreased approximately 4 mpg at 55mph. City mileage seems unaffected.

    Also, there was no drilling into metal. Several screws just screwed into plastic, others into preexisting holes.

    Sure, you can screw in the self tapping screws for the top location of the rear mudflaps, BUT, the supplied tabs have threads AND I did not want to screw in self tappers into body plastic without drilling a hole and using the parts provided. YMMV.

    Here they are in white. I installed them myself. You must remove the rear wheels to install the rear mud guards, but the front can be installed without touching the tires or even lifting the car. ( 76 ft. lbs. is the torque setting for the wheel lug nuts ) I used a floor jack and placed it on the center lift point indicated in the OM.

    Does anybody have pictures of the mudguards that are offered in the US? They are smaller and cheaper.

    To paint the mud guards find a spray can of "FUSION" paint made by Krylon expessely for Plastics. Wipe the mud flaps with a paper towel wet with turpentine, and dry them. When the surface is dry spray them, the paint dries very quikly, and it comes in many colors. You can buy it on line. The reflective tape are made by P & M products, and they are called, " Spitfires" they can be had in Red or Amber, and in different sizes. They are significantly more reflective than the 3M tape, which you could also apply to the mud guards if you wanted to.

    I got the US mudguards and they definitely provide less coverage than the Euro version. But, they are less noticeable and bulky looking. I am satisfied. If you want protection go with the Euro version, if you want some protection and less noticeable look go with the US version.
