I am going to purchase a dash cover for my 2010 IV. What is the best color for protection and visability. I think the light colors will reflect too much on the windshield. My dash is black and I am in the Arizona sun.

I have a 2008 but also live in Arizona. When I was thinking of a dash cover, my first thought was a light color, but another Prius owner convinced me that a light color would reflect back onto the inside windshield, so I went with black. I really haven't felt that it makes that much of a difference - heat-wise. I use a solar shield windshield sun shade, and I park in the shade as often as I can. Good luck to you.

Why would you purchase a 'Dash Cover"? Your dash is hard plastic ..I have a similar dash on my wife's Pilot that has lived 6 years in the greuling Florida sun...I seriously doubt the dash will fade, crack, or warp as the old cheap soft GM dashes used to do...on the other hand I can see you covering the dash if you object to the hardness or the modern texture as I am sometimes want to do...Now if I could find someone to skin my dash in leather like the latest Corvettes....that would be something.

The car will fall apart before your dash will change colour.

I think the point, at least for black, is to reduce reflections in the windshield. Does that work?

In the olden days, one could see cars with dashboards cracked after years of sun exposure. However, the 1994 Integra we just sold, and the 2001 A4 we still have, have no sun damage at all, not even color change, and I expect to see none. I think this is a solved problem.

I just ordered a Charcoal Colored Dashboard (CoverKing-Velour), to match the dark gray interior of my Prius IV. Costco® has a sale till April 25th $24.99 including shipping. SUCH A Deal, and it also the same price for both the Poly-Carpet or the Velour material.

I am buying the cover due to the veiling glare on the windshield, and I get annoyed by how every dust mote finds its way onto the dark dashboard.

Costco - $24.99 after $5 OFF Coverking Custom Tailored Dash Covers

The reason I wanted a dash mat is to hold a shade over the center display on my 2008. Maybe the newer years have fixed the problem of glare on the display, but my 2008 display washes out in the light. I also have jury-rigged another small shade over the display in front of the steering wheel that shows the odometer, gas tank amount, etc. I just use poster paper. It works very well.

Thanks for all the tips. I ordered a black one from Checker Auto. Made in Phoenix and will be here next week. $28 so not a lot to loose. Salesman suggested AGAINST the velour from this manufacturer since it uses a foam backing. BTW I am in Lake Havasu City where temps go to 120 on the OUTSIDE of the car.

Our 2010 is 'Blizzard Pearl' color and we have a dark blue dash mat which goes very nicely with the blue accent badges.

I must admit it was an odd ordering process....I guess when you first leave the Costco site to specify the cover/color/model you want, it emails CoverKing, and then they match it up with your Costco Number? Because, if you notice, there is nothing in the Costco Invoice that states the color and model you ordered.

GREAT price from Costco. We juist purchased one in black and it cost a shade under $60. Wish I'd have seen that Costco offer first.

Got my cover yesterday. Returned it yesterday. While the fit was not perfect I know that sometimes it has to "wear" in. I think it is a waste and I did not like the looks of the rug on the dash.

Oh man, I bet you wouldn't have liked the orange shag on the inside walls of my '50 Chevy panel van, either, then.

My CoverKing arrived today. Didn't take long at all. I plopped it on the dash to warm up and properly settle in the sun. I took a couple of pictures to show it. I'll velcro it in place later on.

The Sale is now over, so the covers are now $29.95 from Costco.com
