    Hello all!

I'm new to this site but happy to be here!

I know this is somewhat of a longshot but it never hurts to inquire, right?

I'm searching for a set of 17 inch rims/tires from a 2010 package V. I'm picking up my brand new Package II this afternoon so I will have a never-driven before set of 15 inch rims/tires to trade.....OR.....if you already own a set of after-market rims/tires, I'm willing to purchase your set of 17's if you still have them.

I live in Los Angeles and of course will take care of all shipping.

Lastly, if anyone that comes across this post knows of a shop around the country selling a set of 17's, I'd most certainly appreciate the lead and direction as well.

Thank you all in advance for your help. I can't tell you how excited I am to be dumping my X5 for this new Prius! :) - that's me!

    Sincerely,
    Jason

Thank you Liskipper for the warning.

I too read this post and a few others about the topic and do have some concerns but I've also read numerous posts from those that have changed and experieinced no probs thus far.

I'm torn but feel I'm still shading towards giving them a try.

Again, THANK YOU again for taking the time to look out for a fellow owner!

    Very much appreciated!

    Jason,
If you are willing to pay a premium for the stock 17s, there is an individual from Longo Toyota (El Monte) who you could contact for a quote. I asked him back in December and he quoted roughly $305/rim (not including tires). If you are willing to pay that price, send me a PM and I could provide you with the individual's name.

    PM sent. Thanks HI MPG.
Would prefer to not go thru dealership for obvious cost reasons but keeping this info as an option. If others out there are looking to sell their personal rims or can lend advice or can point me in the right direction to a place, I'd certainly appreciate it. Thx all!

The Prius III has 15" wheels. I have a 2010 Prius IV and while you can adjust your speedometer to read the velocity on a 17", it may affect your warranty. I got aftermarket Motegi SP 10s and saved 6 lbs per wheel. It improved the handling and acceleration, but not the mpg. If any problem surfaces in the future, the service dept can point to this change. That was the one thing my sales contact told me after he checked with the service dept. The 15's I got from Motegi thru a local dealer were $566 for four wheels out the door and you don't have to change tires. The ride is better than 17" too. I used Pacific Tire Motorsports in Redondo Beach.

What are you smoking? The 15" and the 17" tires have a difference of 1.4% in diameter. The speed differential would be less than 1mph, which is certainly within the range of the ABS/stability control system. Go find someone who actually had their warranty voided, not just some grease monkey telling BS stories to customers at the service department.

You have been fed absolute nonsense! If they were aftermarket wheels AND the change in wheels were to contribute to a failure, then there would be an issue. Changing to another Toyota wheel, they would be hard pressed to say it caused any problem. Some people who work at dealers are really stupid or lazy or both.
