    Hi everyone!

I am a signmaker in Columbia, MD and even before discovering something similar on a Japanese website, I scanned the Prius logo and created some lettering for the sides of my Seaside Pearl. Since the Hybrid Synergy Drive logo is not recognized by the general public, I added a tagline under it: GasElectricHybrid. I put just that on the back, also, under the license plate.

I have offered the decals in white, black and grey and have sets already made up in those colors.

Personally, I think the white works best on all the colors except the white, of course. That's because the lower portion of the car is usually darker anyway, so the white stands out a bit more. On the lighter colors, it is more subtle. However, a grey would work nicely on a white (instead of black) and it would work nicely on most of the colors too. I have sent gray ones to owners of Millenium Silver and Tideland Pearl cars.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to all the colors of Prii, so you will have to tell me what color you would like if it's not one of the above. I have seen a Salsa Red and the silver color, which was a local car. We wound up putting white on the silver and it looked good. It was subtle.

I can also make custom decals/stickers for you. So if you want an "Eat My Voltage" or "My Other Car is a Hybrid", I could make those too. These would be letters that would appear as if they were printed on the surface, not like a bumper sticker with a background. They would look similar to the photos.

I would not recommend a chrome. Because of the way that the material is made, they would not hold up as well as the vinyl ones. They are actually an adhesive-backed silver-colored mylar. I put some chrome initials on the doors of my van way back when and they didn't look good after a couple of years.

The vinyl will come off easily if you remove it right away. Once you apply the letters, they will come off, but they will be destroyed and not able to be used again. If you need to remove them months or years down the line, you can. Just lift a corner of each letter with a single-edge razor or sharp knife and pull the letters away from the car. There may be a glue residue remaining, but the Home Depot sells an adhesive remover that works well and doesn't damage the paint on the car.

You can see pictures of my Seaside Pearl with some custom lettering I made in the Appearance Modifications Album:

    Another installation:

If the above links don't work, check the Appearance Modifications Album and go to the oldest pictures. I was one of the first to post pictures there.

They are $15 for a set. The set includes lettering for the two sides and the rear. The sides read: "PRIUS" in the logotype, about 2-1/4" tall with a smaller set (about 1") of letters that say "GasElectricHybrid" underneath the logo. The rear lettering sits under the license plate and says "GasElectricHybrid"; they are about 1-1/2" tall.

If you order two sets at the same time, I will only ask that you send me $25 for the two sets because I will include them both in the same package. You can get additional sets for $10 each if ordered at the same time and you can mix colors.

I will include detailed instructions for installation.

I will send a set out when you give me your USPS address and indicate that you want them. Also, it helps if you tell me what color you want.

I don't take PayPal or credit cards, unfortunately. I only take checks, but I don't need to have it here or to have cashed it. After all, you own a Prius! You have to be an honest person, with integrity!

Anyway, if you are interested, you can send me a check for $15 to:

    Paul Demmitt
    9337 Angelina Circle
    Columbia, MD 21045-5110

Or you can order them through the PriusChat.com store; Danny now is selling them and accepting PayPal, which I don't take. He charges $17, but that additonal goes to maintaining the website.

And you can email me directly:

I was actually thinking about putting together some Priuschat stickers for the rear windshields - like the Lasercut stickers that have come out in the past couple of years.

Could we talk about doing something like that, and what the costs would be?

    Re: Appearance Modifications

I forgot to say that my car now has the stickers installed. I was going to post photos but Paul's photographs are good and I really appreciate his cooperation in furnishing them to me. They are easy to install. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Glad to hear - they are going to be the same style that we're using for the Priuschat.com window decal. Did you place them in the same spots as Paul?

Yes, I put them in the same locations. They look nice and others may want to get them. Very easy to install. Since my Prius in the blue, same as his, I used the stickers in White. He also has them in black, I think.

Just installed Paul's stickers. They look very nice. I'll post pictures of it when my car is dry (rainy days for a little while).

Just posted pictures of my Driftwood with black sticker set from Paul. Thanks, Paul! Also shows splash guards, bumper strips, leather steering wheel cover, and dash topper dash cover. However, I am going to modify the dash topper to show more of the silver trim. Will post more photos when I do it.

Can't say that I like the appearance of the dash topper, nor the utility of it, but I sure love the look of that 2-tone steering wheel cover. The splash guards are appealing as are the "Prius" decals on the door bottoms. The big "Gas-Electric Hybrid" decal is a bit too big and ad-like for my taste. Bumper strips--I can't decide...they seem practical, but slightly break up the lines/sleakness. I could live with them.

Mind listing the sources for the products you have installed?

The dash topper is not installed with the velcro yet, but I am also uncertain about the looks. I am planning to cut it back to the flat dash portion to reveal the silver accents and then live with it awhile. With the light color, I actually get a little glare in full sun, makes the odo/speed display seem dimmer. The flat black finish from the factory does not reflect. I was hoping I wouldn't have to continue to dust the black dash daily. Ordered it from calcarcover.com , also ordered a custom car cover with personalized license plate embroidered on it. Will post photo when I receive it in another week or so.

The wheel cover is a Wheelskins Europerf Steering Wheel Cover ordered from AutoSport catalog. They have several colors, with either single color or two tone, smooth or Europerf. Fit was excellent, installation took about an hour. Feel is great!

Bumper strips are available from AutoSport also. I got them in order to break up the sleek look that you like. Most cars have some kind of horizontal line, some black, some same color as the car, the Prius has the creases and door grooves. Have gotten both positive and ambivalent comments from friends. There are also slender door protector strips availble in clear or black, as well as square bumper pads.

I like the rear decal for the purpose of advertising/promoting the hybrid technology. My small contribution to the world my daughter is inheriting.

    I love this car!

Well - I do hope you're still in business by the time I get my hybrid. I love the Hybrid decals that you're making and would love to get a white one for the back fo the car. Does anyone have any pictures of the Tideland Green with any decals or other accessories on it? Appreciate it much.

Funny how every time I browse the Appearance Modifications forum, I end up oohing and aahing over something someone else did and run out and do the same thing.

Okay, so now I have Paul's stickers on the car and LOVE them. Definitely gives the car more looks and people obviously curious about hybrid technology.

Then, I added on the Wheelskins Euro-perforated two-toned leather steering wheel cover that was posted here as well. I got the Sand on the upper and lower section and the black between the spokes to match the interior of my Driftwood Pearl. I'm THRILLED with it. It looks and feels great, far better than the auto store wheel covers. This one is a major PITA to put on because you have to stitch it together onto the wheel and there must be a 100+ stitches. But it's a lot more professional looking than those ones with the long vinyl string that you just wrap around the wheel cover.

Already got my XM upgrade, so c'mon - bring on the new toys!!

i feel sort of the same way and i don't even HAVE my prius yet. the only thing keeping me from buying some of this stuff now is that i can't be sure of what color i am getting yet. 1st choice was salsa, second was driftwood, and obviously i will need different color accessories depending on which one arrives (or some other color completely...)

I don't have mine yet either, but I got the call from the dealer and now have a signed Purchase & Sales Agreement for a Salsa#7. Now I can order a set of Paul's stickers. They do look nice on the cars in the pictures.

Paul is still in business and producing fabulous decals!

I just got my 2 sets (both white) and they look great. They reall add spice to my salsa red, and the '01 has never looked better.

It was just a little scary peeling back the paper to see the results, but it was worth it.

    THANKS PAUL!
