I would guess it has a salvage title. You can ask for the VIN so you can get a carfax report or ask if it has a salvage title. Some insurance carriers won't cover a salvage title. Be careful, because it could have had a salvage title in another state and be registered in CA with a clean title (I believe I read that on this site, you might want to double check that).

It does sound too good to be true for a clean titled car.

Gotta be a salvage. Run far away from it, fast. Search on this site for a few stories describing the fun one can have trying to fix a salvage Prius.

After reading a few posts on here I am so glad I got a Toyota Certified Used Prius! The peace of mind is worth the $2k extra I paid over some fly by night auction car lot.

$15k for a 2008 with 23k miles and loving every minute of it!

If it sounds to good to be true, it probbaly is. The VIN comes back ok, but that does not really mean a lot until you see the title and check the details, like how long they had it and where it was sold. They should have the origonal paperwork.

Salvaged or Wrecked Title. If it was clean, they could just as easily sell it to the dealership for cash.

only thing that I don't like about Toyota Certified is the warranty is only Powertrain coverage...I believe most other CPO warranties are REAL warranties.

Why so worried about salvage title. Ill drive mine till it dies anyway and a few bent fenders hood and headlights will not kill it any sooner.

There are only 2 entries at Toyota Owners Online | Official Toyota Owners Website .

4/30/09 10 miles "wheels & tires" and "maintenance" at Team Toyota in Georgia. Why does a new car need wheels & tires & maintenance that the dealer is paying for?

I wouldn't pursue anything where I have to work to get the seller to sell something to me.

There are plenty of cars, including Prius, sitting around. Find another.
