Been perusing this forum for a while now and feel I am close to finally getting a 2010 Prius.

I have been in email/phone negotiations with one dealer here in So Cal, and the best offer he has given me on a Package II is:

MSRP of $23800 (which includes rear bumper applique and floor mats)
    knocked down to $22850

But then adding in Acquisition/Bank fee of $650 brings final deal to:

    Cap cost: 23500
36 mo lease at $283.25 (after tax)
    $703 Total drive off
    Lease rate is .00150 (3.6%)
    Residual $15,960 (68%)

Based on some of the deals I've read about from March, this doesn't seem as good, however, I know the market has changed in Toyotas favor recently.

I plan on checking in with 2-3 more dealerships, but so far this is the best deal I have on paper.

    What do you all think?

    Ps. First post!

It sounds like a good deal to me. I'm in NorCal though. The territory changes around Bakersfield. I'd suggest asking Dianne on this board for her help on a SoCal deal because she's nice. You could get a lower MF if you bought in NorCal so that's a consideration too.

    Good luck!

Dianne Whitmire - check out the Dealers section, you'll see her posts down there. As an extra added bonus, she contributes money to Priuschat everytime she makes a sale to a Priuschat member.

    Tall Rob,

It is not a good deal. I just purchased a Level III Prius two days ago at 22,395 (It included mats, etc. I did have to pay tax, title, on top of that.). How I got that price was by using Edmunds.com and KBB.com to have dealers solicit quotes to me. Then I e-mailed the dealers back and forth for the best quote. Use those e-mails as proof and leverage to get your best price. If they refuse to match it just walk. They will match it, but you have to be willing to walk when they do not.

Ditto on the last post and advice.

I am picking my 2010 Prius II up today, and got it OTD for 22,500 (tax, title, etc). And we have 8% sales tax here in Illinois.

I know the guys in the midwest and east coast are trying to be helpful, but it seems like dealers in those areas are willing to go much lower in price than anything in California. You need feedback from people who actually live in this area and from the deals I've seen posted here and my own purchase, I simply don't think you can find a Prius II in the LA/OC area for less than a few hundred off of invoice. Contacting Diane is probably a good way to go and I wish I'd found this forum before purchasing my Prius. You just definitely will not be finding Prius IIIs here for 22,395 like zarakand did.

You have a pretty good point. I did not realize he is in California. If you like I'll be happy to fwd you my quotes, and you can take that into a dealership to help you leverage a better price. If nothing else they'll say no and you'll walk out knowing that you tried to get a better deal.

Yeah, Zarakand's advice is sound when it comes to emailing and getting prices to compare against and being willing to walk away. I just wanted to make sure that he wasn't expecting the prices I'm so incredibly jealous that you guys seem to get. =)

Sounds like a good deal to me. However, I am never the one to do the negotiating. My wife is the business person in our relationship. I just stand there and pretend to look tough.. grr. Absolutely try n get some quotes from fellow neighbors in ur area tho.. I am in NY and for me and you to sit down and compare is apples n oranges. Best of luck!

Thanks for the responses everyone! Yeah, it seems that the money factor in the advertised lease deals varies significantly from region to region.

I have been doing my homework and have put out a few more emails to some dealerships, including Dianne W.

I am waiting until after May 3rd in hopes the MF improves from the current lease offer here in Los Angeles.

Welcome Rob! I believe we have talked... and as you know, the rates changed a bunch this morning -- for the better! You know where to find me! :D
