I just got this installed on my 1.5 week old Prius. I had it installed at the dealer. Parts + Labor was $180. It was the cheapest I found anywhere, even on the internet. Everywhere was at least $200 and I absolutely have no idea how to install it and reading the instructions were just too complicated for me. I'm glad I went with it. I brought it in and 30 minutes later, I had the illuminated door sills for - what I think - is a great price.

What dealer did you go to? That is an excellent price and I am local to you, I want to go to the same dealer.

I find this price hard to believe! The cost for the part alone (PT922-47100) is more than that wholesale. Labor would be about 1/2 hr. clock rate for whatever the dealer's hourly labor rate is!

Lol, I'm starting to suspect that. I asked what dealer but he never responded.

I'll take a picture of my invoice for you when I get to it tomorrow morning, if you'd like. The part was $105. The labor was $75. Plus tax (~10)

Why on earth would I make something like this up? Seriously?

Geez Sorry, I didn't notice there was a reply to the thread. I don't subscribe to threads. I went to Southbay Toyota in Gardena.

Next time, I'll make sure to reply to threads sooner.

Now I'm really puzzeled! Is the part# I mentioned the same?? The labor sounds right, but $105.00 for the part??? Could this be "hot" stuff??

Are you talking about the same part? I just called Southbay Toyota of Gardena and the parts guy told me $304 out the door. I didn't even bother to ask for installation price.

Yeah, I'm sure it's "hot" stuff. Keep rolling your eyes buddy. You must think everyone has some hidden agenda or ulterior motive.

I'm pretty sure. I just called my dealer, not the parts dept, a week after I bought my car. I told her how I liked those door sills and how I wanted them on my installed on my car. She connected me to the parts. I don't know if she did some heavy discount (which it seems like?) but I don't know why since I didn't ask her to and it's been over a week since I bought the car. No mentioned was made to me but the parts guy or the dealer that a discount had been made.

Here's a copy of my invoice as promised:

Wow! Your dealer was either very generous or made a huge mistake. Everyone was right to be skeptical, but you got a great deal. Enjoy.

:( I even told the parts guy that a friend of mine had it done for $180 and he said good for him, ha, ha.

    You lucked out.

For anybody even a little concerned about doing this yourself, let me tell you my story. I'm a klutz. I didn't know what a "trim tool" or "t-tap" were but I followed the installation instructions (pdf available here in PCShop) and figured it all out. The whole job took about 75 minutes. If I did it again, it would probably take me no more than 30 minutes.

Bottom line: They look beyond great. The cool factor is off the scale. I smile every time I open the door especially at night. I understand some of the previous comments about the value of this kind of stuff but this one was well worth it to me.

Hint: A trim tool is not necessary. The old sills were easily removed by hand with no damage to the old sills (currently resting in the recycling bin), the car, or my fingertips.

Toyota retails these for $199.99 so the priuschat store should match that price. Its still listed as $229. I see these on ebay from dealers as well going for $155.55

As for installation, one dealer wants $429 out the door for everything, another wants $290...hmm tough choice lol.

Great, I ordered them from the site posted by bagwell. Shipping from Anaheim, CA. I love the way these look in pictures. Can't wait to see them in person on my new Blizzard Pearl Prius.:)
If my local dealer only charges 1 hour of labor, I'm inclined to just pay them. I'll put the rears on myself but I don't know about the wiring.

Search on Ebay. I bought mine for $155.00 Free shipping. Its from a Toyota dealer as well, not some shady place. So its a certified part.

Question: instructions say to disconnect 12V Battery. Is this really necessary? And for those who did, when you reconnect the battery does anything need to be reset? i've heard you got to reset the auto up/down windows and things like that when you lose 12V power.
