We just traded our 2007 Prius for a new 2010 Prius. I was just at the dealer for the newest accelerator/floormat recall and the confiscated (stole) my heavy duty all weather rubber Toyota Prius mats. Those were great mats and we loved them. They did not, and could not, interfer with the accelerator pedal. But...they took them. The replacement mats are flimsy and thin and will not hold liquid like the others. Bottom line...while we were there, I made a great deal on a new Prius and drove home in it. Here is the question...

I want to get new all weather mats for the new Prius. We loved our former Prii mats and would like something similar. Does anyone have experience with the two different Weathertech mats? The two of interest are the Weathertech All Weather Floor Liner Mats and the Weathertech All Weather Floor Mats. Two different animals...the liners are a bigger and all encompassing mat for both front and back seating areas. But they look as though they may be vinyl and pretty slick instead of providing good traction. So that is my concern on them. Can anyone address this on the liners? Then on the other mats, I am assuming they are a heavy duty rubber...would that be correct? I do not find this mat on the priuschat shop site but rather another site...Prius All-Weather Floor Mat. I was wondering if anyone has experience with either of these and can address my concerns. We want a mat with good traction and ability to hold any spill or dirty boots that get in/out of the car. Thanks in advance for your help!:)

I have Weathertech liners front, rear, and cargo. They are surely slicker than rubber, but I have not found this to be a problem.

Yup I love mine. Our Canadian ones are different from yours. You can always grab a set from us! It's heavy-duty (though they are a bit lighter this year than in previous years) and have hexagons to hold water and mud. Our rim is lined with two drains to stop water from flowing over.

I see the pic but not in your post...just my reply...But these are the Toyota heavy duty mats, not the Weathertech, is that correct? I had the american version that they took in the recall...we loved them. And now they are off the market and I am looking at the Weathertech because the Toyota mats are going to be pretty lame. Thanks.

Correct. You were looking for an option for heavy-duty all-weather mats and thus I gave you another option in addition to WeatherTech :).

Umm, a Canadian dealer??. Just cross the border into Manitoba =)

Due to Toyota's recall on the Prius, they have removed the original heavy duty all weather mats. They are making a similar mat out of a much lighter flimsy material that is no where near as nice. I suspect the canadian version will be done that way as well. I just ordered the all weather Weathertech Mat, not the floor liner...hopefully I will like that.

Wish I'd investigated the Canadian All-Weather mats before I bought the WeatherTech Floor Liners.

As an aside, I can report that since swapping out my All-Weathers for the carpeted floormats I received from GGBailey yesterday, the road noise is notably lower.

These are the second set of mats I've ordered from them (previous ones were in the Phaeton). I find their price reasonable and their quality far superior to what came with the vehicle from the factory. I'll post pics for clicks later.

Ours have already been modified. The picture doesn't show the driver's side but the water run-off drain is now much further away from the accelerator pedal and is now replaced with a thin piece of rubber with a warning label imprinted on it. It looks the same and is a tad lighter than before.

I love my originals as well. And after the "recall" I still have them. I pissed and moaned. They had me sign a waiver and they gave them back. I wasn't so thrilled with the dealer stealing them from me either! I bought the dang things with my own money. They can't just take them away.
