2010 Diecast or Miniature Model?

    There are a few on the us ebay site now but they're expensive. I did get my blue one last week and just love it. It's exactly like my car in the dark blue with the sunroof and solar roof panels.
    The doors and rear hatch open and it only says Toyota Prius on the bottom of the car and the box; no toy mfg at all. There are also a few of the 09 keyrings that are about 3" long on ebay for about $10 which is a bargain.

    I just noticed that Tomy Tomica now has a white Gen 3 Diecast Prius 1/60 scale available:

    Looks like the feathered headlight design is hard to do on the smaller diecast models

    Yeah, Tomy did the same thing with their Gen 2 Prius 1/60 scale model. Just painted the whole headlight silver.

    However, I think that on the Matchbox Gen 2 Prius 1/60 scale cars, they do feather the headlights.

    What I'm really waiting for is for Kinsmart to come out with their Gen 3 Prius 1/34 scale models that you can buy for $4.99 at drugstores and toy stores. The detailing is much better on those, e.g., on the Gen 2 they had clear plastic headlight lens covering chrome painted stacked headlights.

    Not quite released yet, but the detailing on this diecast is pretty amazing.

    Yes, 1/43 scale models tend to be surprisingly good. This one won't be as exclusive or expensive as the Japanese-dealer-only 1/30 models, but they'll be a close second.

    After reading this thread, I decided to get a Matchbox Prius just for fun. It was kind of difficult to find, but I got the last one at a local Toys R Us. It's not the 2010 model, but it was only $1. :) I've attached a picture of it.

    For those of you in southern CA, I've also seen larger models (possibly similar to the Kinsmart ones mentioned here) for $4.99 at a Thrifty/Rite-Aid store. They have front doors that can be opened, and I remember seeing them in silver metallic and another color. I don't think they were the 2010 model either.

    No, I haven't heard anything about it. I'm just assuming that Kinsmart will eventually come out with one.
