To get the bulb housing out you'll need turn it 1/4 of a turn counter clockwise. I used needle nose pliers to help me with this. It takes some work to get em out. After they are out, just pull put the old buld and pop in the new one. Then put the housing back into the hole, and then turn 1/4 clockwise to lock it back into place. It should go smoothly. If not, lemme know and I'll get a video for you.
Here ya go LINK it is from a different website by the way than the other bulbs. However, I decided to return the light because I wanted to stick with the blue festoon I already bought. Be aware: these are an extremely tight fit - may wanna try a smaller size but this one WILL work. Just have to be patient in getting it in there.
Are you talking about the Festoon bulb for the rear dome light? I agree it is very hard to get one to fit into there nicely. Mine isn't even all the way in there like the stock bulb was - but it works out alright. I'll take a picture of how I have it "wedged" in there so it wont fall out and such if you would like. The key is patience my friend, patience. I'm very impatient by the way.

Let me know if you guys have any more questions - I'll be glad to answer them.

any issue with the heat from the LED melting the plastic cover of the dome/map/door lights?

LED lights generate a LOT less heat than their incandescent cousins, as well as use a fraction of the power - so I'd imagine heat isn't an issue - but then again, I haven't been in Electronics class for a number of years, so I could be remembering wrong. :D

Absolutely not, the LED's run with less power and exert less heat. I would be more worried about the stock bulbs melting the covers than the LED's :)
Your absolutely right Comrad, all of what you said is indeed correct.

Well, managed to get the festoon bulb in - had to 'dent' the metal ends and use a bit of Ol' English to force it in enough not to just eject immediately. I am debating if I want to play with the last incandescent light in the back.

A part of me wonders about putting in LED driven lamps instead of halogen lamps for headlights - but that might be more than I am prepared to take on.

It is automatic. Just turn it on, close the hatch, and it turns off. Open the hatch again, and it turns back on.

Hey lulz, How did you get at the license plate lights? From the outside of the vehicle or from the inside of the hatch door?

So who is going to venture into replacing the rear amber and reverse lights?

    Ahhh good thnking!!
I got to them from the inside of the door hatch - on the hatch on the inside you should see two black squares. From the top - I inserted a phillips flat hear to pry the black squares out. Once they were out I simple removed the wire connecting to the bulb housing - and then turned the bulb housing 1/4 counter clockwise to get it out. Once I got the bulb housing out - all you do is pull the bulb out and push the new one in. Then - put the housing back in the hole and turn 1/4 clockwise to lock it back into place. Then connect the wire again and put the black plastic cover back on. There are pictures somewhere in this whole forum of the process. It's simple though. Let me know if you have additional questions. I may - but I don't think that's necessary really..

Thanks to Jason...I didn't realize that light in the hatch could be controlled by the door either. Yep, it works as I tried it. I will leave it "on" now as sometimes at night I like a bit more lighting back there when I open the hatch. That makes it candidate for an LED someday too.
Lulz: Someday when all-white replacement LEDs are available from one website, I will order. I think it's coming so if you should see a site with everything needed to do them all (in white), let me know.
    Thanks, Greg

I've been using the superbrightleds.com site that Lulz recommended. I had no trouble getting the festoon bulb in. One side of the festoon holder is immovable, but the other side is movable. I just pushed gently on the movable side, slid the new led bulb in and let go. No problems.

Do you know if the hatch light bulb is also available on that site? I assume you got all white LEDs?

I don't know for sure yet because I haven't popped off the cover to the hatch light. I'm assuming that it's going to be a bulb matching the type in the map lights and side door lights.

This is what I've ordered so far:
    Qty | Product / Options | Price/ea |
    ============================================================
    7 | WLED-xHP5 Wedge Base Bulb | $ 5.95 |
    White WLED-WHP5
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    1 | 3022-x4 LED Festoon bulb | $ 2.84 |
    Warm White 3022-WW4 0.95

I don't like the warm white in the back because it doesn't match the others though. I'm going to try a somewhat larger (in width) festoon in cool white. I'll let you know how that goes.

Jason, I finally went on the site and checked the LEDs myself. Yes, there are subtle color choices of warm white, normal white and cool white. But the festoon bulb did not have a "normal white" choice. The cool white is actually somewhat blueish so it is a mis-match to the other LEDs.
Although you can't tell in Lulz's pics and video, the site has a disclaimer that LEDs are not as bright as normal filament bulbs. Let us know what your opinion is after the change-out.
