To call the civic a dog... is unfair.
    The insight is a dog.

The civic is a..... dog like car.

Having driven all of the above.... It isn't even close.
All the more reason for buyers to stay away from Honda at the moment.
Glad I'm smart enough to keep my car until this #$$@er dies... all the more....

I feel your pain. I am trying to trade a 2009 Prius with 80K miles but in excellent condition with Toyota warranty in place and they are killing me with the price. This car has held it value worse than almost ANY car I have ever owned! Love the car, hate the dealers!

this was how I got into my prius. Traded an 07 Civic with 97000 miles, outside of manufactures warranty for a 08 prius with 59000 miles covered under warranty till 125000. Walked out of the dealership only paying $2800. It was great for me because the civic was holding its value while the prius was not.

While others on the thread saw the impact of the UA nonsense, in this case it could very well be the impending arrival of the Prius c and PiP. Combine a desire to trade, a cheaper, more efficient new Prius and easier financing for new cars and you have a recipe for a drop in price of earlier cars.

    Try Craigslist.

A car dealer will ALWAYS be the low bidder, because they offer instant liquidity. Thinking in terms of stock trading (even though cars aren't particularly fungible), a dealership has a wide spread, with low offers to buy, and high offers to sell, while private party transactions occur at the midpoint.

Wait until around Memorial day. If gas prices get to the amount they predict all hybrids will be in demand.

I agree with oldasdust. Many of the projections I see are for near $5.00/gallon prices by Memorial Day. We're aleady up $0.36/gallon since January 1. Could be wrong (won't be the first time) but it looks grim at this point.
