The manual seems to indicate that they're automatic...but, they don't seem to work.

Is there a trick to have them turn on?

I know the Canadian '04 Priuses have the automatic daytime running lights (maybe it's mandatory in Canada?), but not the American models. Have a distant memory about a manual typo about this in the U.S.

Ah, here's the thread with all the answers. 04Prius mentioned that you can leave the lights on, and when you open the driver door, they will shut off.

(Can't speak from experience, though -- darn it! :) )

DRL's are canadian only. The "Auto" headlights were included only if the car had DRL's.

Conversely, the car could not have DRL if they had HID lamps since the Prius DRL system uses the main lights at reduced power - which HID cannot do.

Yes, daytime running lights are mandatory in Canada, and I am actually trying to import a Toyota Prius 2005 I got in Miami to Canada. Does anybody knows where can I install thoses?
    Thank you a lot
