Anything over 100 miles would not be good enough for me. When Brad got his Prius, he drove it off the showroom floor with 3 miles.

    Actually, It Can !

My 'Choice' referred to getting the Prius's at a particular time so others would contribute a great deal of the purchase price, so getting exactly what I wanted within that time frame forced me for personal financial gain to take delivery of cars I would otherwise have refused to accept. In my opinion a car with more than ten miles on it should command a huge discount. The cars all depreciate greatly the moment we as owners drive them away from the dealer. Why should they be exempt from that especially when they use minimum wage transport drivers because it's just a cheap way of moving the new car. Those cars are driven too fast, they are driven on salt covered highways in winter, behind gravel trucks, and by people who could not care less about the damage they do to your new car. Dealers who do this should pay a BIG price for doing it. THAT is my opinion.

10 Miles MAXIMUM ! The answer is simple, pick a numebr YOU would not refuse to accept.

Wow ! A Prius driver with 'Manhood' issues. So you want to measure your "Manhood" up against mine ? Do you do that with all the men who post, or just the ones you're attracted to ?

After 62 years and the role of Infantry Grunt during Vietnam, I haven't had many men 'Flirt' with me so. Desperate Dumb people have never appealed to me, sorry ! And sexually, I prefer actual women to you pretenders, anyway:cool:.

New Yorker, you contradict your own argument, because you DID accept a car over 10 miles under certain conditions, which is what others who suggest this is not a simple answer are saying. There are conditions in which one may find higher mileage acceptable.

Quite honestly, I find this to be silly because there are laws that govern the dealers as to what can be categorized as new/used. These are what dealers are going to pay attention to, not a confusing posting where all that has been proven (even by you) is that there are conditions in which a consumer will purchase a car as "new" with what some may deem as high mileage.

Anything more than 3 digits (100), I would not accept. If I wanted the car, I'd tell them to get the exact same one with less miles or I'd find a dealer that would.

Since buyers are the ones with the cash they can call the shots. I'd never let a dealer pull one on me like that.

Honestly I barely took mine with 30 miles. Btw, people should not be chastisizing the OP for wanting a car with low miles. I wouldn't want people testing driving my car either. Also when you pay the money you do for a Prius or any product for that matter you should get what you expect.

If not you can walk, b/c someone else will get you what you want....

Actually, as I stated the car came at a Huge cost savings, so I figgured it was good deal on a used car and it had the new car warranty. I'm talking a savings, because I took these cars when I did, of 5 figures off the price. So for even a Used Car , that made the used car mileage acceptable. If I had to pay full price for these used cars, no friggin' way !

So I never compromised my opinion, I bought a used car, that was Like New !:)

You can justify it this way if you want, but according to the dealer and the title, it was sold as a new car. Getting a deal is always good, but there are many reasons in which to "deal" and getting a lower price does not mean it is "used." But congrats anyway, all parties (you and the dealer) are happy and that is what matters.

    Hi Guys and Gals,
In Israel I do not believe such high mileage is possible.
Cars stay in the port before being released in the name of the owner. Dealer test cars are sold as second hand (used) cars
I have purchased 3 new cars in my life
My Prius had 2 klm (1+ miles)and my previous two (not Toyotas) 6 and 11 klm. I do believe that 10-12 klm (6-7 miles) should be the tops.
100 -200 miles is really nothing in the life of a car but we do not know who drove them and that is the problem

I drove off the lot in a Prius with 47 miles. I know it had been test driven at least twice, once by me and once by my wife and there was a significant gap between them. Both of us did, basically, the same test drive at 12-13 miles each. So, it had probably been test driven 4 or 5 times.

If I was ordering I'd want a low number but driving off the lot I'd expect some test driving so I'd take 100 miles as new, but expect a small adjustment to the price.

I gave, when I said, that IN MY OPINION 10 miles is the cutoff for an Actual Unused NEW car that I would buy as a new car at new car prices. Thus I have just provided what I sought from each person posting here.

That has no effect on my decision to accept the USED cars I did because only a complete moron would turn down a 5 figure discount, that got I alone got on these cars. My 2007 Prius in the end cost me 11,000 dollars, a fully equipped Prius Touring that had a Katzkin Leather interior (see page 12 in the photo albums).

My 2010 Prius V is a similar, "You'd Be Crazy NOT TO buy this used car for that!" type of deal. But no one could extract the full new car prices the rest of you pay for your new Prius if it had the kind of mileage I had on my cars, which were Clearly USED cars, despite the window stickers, and the full new car warranty. So it is why I asked ONLY for that mileage opinion from you and others, and NOT what 'justifications-rationalizations' each would make to convince them to buy a used car for a new car price.

This thread was not asking, " What Excuse could cause you buy a heavily mileaged used car as new ", which is what most posters tried to give me. That was never the question.

I think I want to change the long answer that I gave before to this:

It has nothing to do with milage. A car is NEW only so long as it has that new-car smell.

(Sort of a joke, and sort of not.)

That's why they sell cans of air freshener that mimics that odor. It is my Odor of preference whenever my Jeep (6.5 years old) acquires a Skunk/road kill atmosphere, or I park it for too long in New Jersey:D.

I have no issues and some day when I have nothing better to do I will compare service duty and awards and commendations but I suspect that will be a long time from now. You aren't the only guy who was in SE Asia. Although it is obvious that in your opinion you are the best at everything in the world. Oh, if only there were an "ignore" button in this forum, but then it would probably cut out half the threads you post in.

You have an amazing instinct for the capillary. Have a great day, New Yorker. Yes, I know it is always better in New York.

I do not know the current status, but the town of Irvington, NJ which is near Newark, New Jersey Airport, and at the crossroads of Interstate 78, The New Jersey Turnpike, and the Garden State Parkway, was the Nations 'Car Theft Capital' for a Long Time.:(

That's a New York City "Tourist Attraction", Staten Island is home to The World's Largest GARBAGE DUMP, aaah, pardon, we call that a "Landfill' these days.

Those Oil Refineries, Chemical plants, and tank farms, are just the sweet aroma of New Jersey then ?:cheer2:

Oh, and wind is mostly from the west and southwest Toward Staten Island and across the Narrows to Brooklyn.
