    I remember Woody Allen complaining to his girlfriend about a phantom noise coming from inside a wall of his new apartment in the movie Manhattan - said it sounded like someone sawing a trumpet in two.

    Today Pearl made "stomach growling noises" when I turned on the A/C. It was the flapper valve under the dash. Later, when she switched to fresh air from recirc. it was a different sound.

    More hints. ;)
