    Deutch Instute for Normung (German Organization for Standards).

    Developed the first standards for (among other things) standard sizes for radios to be installed in cars. A single Din radio is approximately 2" X 6.5", a double Din is approximately 4" X 6.5".

    DIN also developed standards for many electrical connectors used in audio, video and electrical connections.
