    Patrick.....I would love to post a photo, but I have failed several times that I have tried previously. If you would like to PM me, I can send you one to an email address. I can take a picture with my iPhone and do that. The other seems to be "above my pay grade" technically.

    Looks good! So what is the trick to talk the dealer into replacing with a new pedal as opposed to shortening the old one?

    There's really no trick. I first called Toyota Customer Experience and told them that I knew that there was a replacement pedal available and would like that. Of course, they give you their "canned response" that the recall requires that you first have the "modification" and then if you don't like it, they will replace the pedal. I said I just want the new pedal. They replied with the same canned answer. I asked to speak to someone who could make this happen for me. After talking to two other people, I got someone who told me that they would refer my request to the Customer Service Manager at my dealership. I should hear back within 48 hours. Well, I didn't hear anything, so I made another call and gave my incident number to whomever answered. They then told me that I would hear from the dealership within 24 hours. Well, the service advisor at the dealership who has handled my oil changes, etc., called and said I would be "happy" to hear that they are going to order a new pedal and I would hear from them as soon as it came in. Lo and behold about 3 weeks later, she called and I scheduled the appointment.

    Never once did I raise my voice, but I was persistent and kept reminding them that the "sawing off" of my pedal just wasn't up to Toyota's high standards for excellence.

    I love my car and am very happy with my experience with the dealership. When the survey comes, they will get high marks for making it happen. That's all I asked for.....

    Anybody have the part number for the replacement pedal? I got the "stupid" look from my dealer today - said he didn't know anyhting about a replacement pedal. I said I would get him the information so that he could replace the hacked up pedal with the current replacement part. Is there a TSIB number for this recall?

    Keith, I have pulled the RO from the pedal replacement done at my dealer. I am seeing a number 04000-15147 next to the accelerator pedal/bracket assembly also a number 552011 next to the explanation for the pedal replacement. Bear68 who is a certified master tech for Toyota and a Prius certified tech usually jumps in on all this. He is the one who posted originally about the replacement pedal being available. So I thank him for what knowledge I have. Hopefully, he can spread some additional light on this. I can also scan for you my RO if that would help. Just PM me through here and give me an email address to which to send it.

    Just re-read this post today. Did you skip the dealer and go directly to the Toyota Customer Service? That may be "the trick".

    2009Prius.....yep, I sure did. I went to where I thought I could affect change as far as this recall was concerned. This is not the miliatry; there is no chain of command.

    Thanks for reposting what I wrote. Persistence and kindness pays off. It worked for me.... I cant' feel any difference with the new, shorter pedal. It works wonderfully in "Eleanor." I love my car!!

    I just had the accelerator pedal hack job done over the weekend. I specifically asked my service writer to jump straight to the replacement pedal and that I did not want a chopped up pedal. He didn't really seem to understand that there was a replacement but said he would look into it. They ended up just cutting it and I wasn't very pleased, but he said just take a look at it an if I could tell it wasn't original then "you're a better man than me" but to me it doesn't have a factory designed look but he said after looking into it their procedure is to cut and if customer isn't satisfied they will replace so I'll be calling them back to reschedule another visit.

    I was excited to get new mats because mine was splitting under the right heel and I was surprised to see that they replaced not only the driver but also the passenger side all weather mats. The design looks nice, but as mentioned before, they are very thin and they definitely wouldn't hold as much water/mud as the originals before spilling over onto the floor. I'm quite upset that now the front/rear mats don't match at all and I'm tempted to demand the rears be replaced to match but I almost want to keep the rears because they are much deeper and actually serve their purpose as all weather mats.

    No issues so far with the inverter pump. I was hoping that was the pump that you hear running after shutting off the car that makes the squeaky noises storing the coolant in the thermos but it wasn't so it still makes the same noise. I think I remember reading about a tech service bulletin that those were getting replaced under warranty but I'm going on almost 5 years 62,000 miles now and figure they probably won't touch it now. Is that something they could be talked into doing still?

    Check back in this thread and you'll see my experience in getting my pedal replaced. Bear 68 has been wonderful to post Toyota's policies on all this. I called Toyota Customer Experience and went up the food chain until I got someone who would give me other than the "canned response" of "we modify the pedal first and if you're not satisfied we will order a replacement pedal."

    Good luck in getting the replacement pedal. I had Patrick Wong post the pics of my replacement pedal and you can see that it looks "original" and not some hack job. I kept telling Toyota that I didn't pay $30K for my car to have such a poor attempt at correcting this problem.

    I feel no difference in driving with the shortened pedal and most importantly it looks original to the car. I felt that was important if and when I would try to sell the car.
