Tire pressure sensor swap to new wheels?

    I have a Gen III, 2010 IV and I am swapping out my existing 15" wheels for new 15" wheels. The tires will be the same. Do I have to pay to redo the sensors? Can I just move the sensors with the new wheels? Am I going to need to take the car to the dealer to "register" them? PLEASE advise!!

    Is it worth all this annoyance?

    You should be able to just move the sensors to the new wheels. They have already been registered to the car. If you change the tire pressure, you will just need to reset the TPMS with the reset button under the steering wheel.

    Really depends on the shape of the new wheels. Some sensors come with adjustable angle between the stem and the sensor. Others come with just a fixed angle, and can only be used on wheels of the proper shape. It's worth researching the issue, as a new set of sensors is $100 (eBay) to $400+ (stealership).

    It isn't worth the annoyance.

    Up here in the frozen north we all buy winter tires. We normally buy steel rims to go with them. (Too much expense to change 4 tires on alloy wheels twice a year) Many of us simply do not install sensors and ignore the light. These systems were invented as a response to the liability issues related to the Ford Explorer and Firestone tires. Who needs them? Just check your tires periodically.
