I think the idea behind this car is to increase CAFE fuel mileage across the Lexus brand to meet the higher standards. The HS is not making it in the US market, so they have to do something to increase their CAFE. In that case, I hope they are giving these away with lots of goodies just to get someone to buy them. I like the Prius, but I would change into a CT if it decreases the road noise but gets similar mileage. I have looked at Lexi, but the fuel mileage is awful, even in their so-called Hybrid models. Let's see if the price predictions bear out.

I agree. The only reason I don't have a Prius is because of the road noise. Also I would like to get a moonroof for when I leave my dog in the car, but I dont' want to pay $3800 for the Prius solar roof. So if I can get a quieter than Prius hybrid with a moonroof for around $28k I will.

Good luck...knowing how Lexus does its option packages, $28-30k may get you a base model at best. Just look at the HS250...base is around $33k...with options, it can go up to $48k. And i doubt that this CT200h can match the Prius in fuel economy.

The only thing that i envy the CT200 is the independent rear suspension...but this is only because i like independent suspension on a car and not that i really need it in a fuel miser.

Any more thought s on this topic?

I drove car yesterday and was wowed. Too bad it's priced 9K too high, cause I would have bought without blinking an eye.

It seems like it's down to driver's preference. I don't need the extra cargo room of the Prius, so when I have saved up, I will complete the shift to CT and enjoy the better ride (and better fuel economy on paper, although I believe the Prius is best in real world numbers).

On paper, the Lexus will be under $30K (kinda like the Prius I that essentially doesn't exist), finding one under $30K will be the trick (read impossible), and finding one with a sunroof under $30K will be flat out impossible.

It is a Toyota iQ in Europe. It has been out there since 2009. I am looking at a CT in Europe as well, which is why I'm looking at a different price tag (ie. Much higher than my NA Prius).

Agree with the above. I'm on the fence between the CT200h and a Prius Four - Solar and in my area of NJ you are lucky to find one under $32K. Almost all the Lexus dealers I talked to in my area are getting the premium models first and don't seem to have much incentive to stock the base model.

I was waiting to see a CT200h for a few months at my Lexus dealer (Lexus of Lansing, MI). The sales manager said he is getting very few units. He likened it in size to a Matrix and said I probably would want a bit larger vehicle, hence my decision to look into a Prius.

I would say the Matrix has more cargo space than the CT200h and perhaps 0.5-1" more rear legroom (subjectively sitting in both vehicles. I didn't actually check the numbers). I'd say the A3 is closer than the Matrix in size (both inside and out but again, I think I'll give the nod to the A3 in cargo capacity)

I wish the ct was roomier inside.. I couldve purchased one for close to what I pad for my prius.. I love the outside looks.. But the back seat was smaller then my wife's is250!! Even though it is a station wagon the trunk is tiny!! I was so sad when I went to go see it.. I couldn't justify getting it over the prius just because I like the outside better..
