I have ordered HID kit from Ebay and tried to install but it didn't work.
Just wondering did anyone run into this kind of problem before?
    Thanks

I too had the same problem when I installed the HID kit. The seller suggested switching the wires on picture #1. The aftermarket plug that plugs into the factory wire harness. After that, all was good.

    Good luck.

Do you mean switch the positive and negative? Like the picture 1 shows one end of the ballast is already plug into the factory wire harness.

    Thanks

I have the same exact kit. Ran into the same issue and like the guy above said, you have to switch the wires on pic #1. Basically, unplug it, turn the connector 180 degrees, and plug it back in and push on the wires to make sure it's fully "in". Voila!

    Other tips:

    1. Make sure you clean the bulb with rubbing alcohol and cotton pad before inserting it.

    2. Do use the orange rubber grommet when you re-insert the bulb. It's a bit thick so when you insert the bulb and try to turn it, it will be a bit tough and you won't be able to 100% turn it, maybe 50-70% but it will be very tight and won't move a millimeter.

    3. Mount the ballast and converter away from any moving parts. I used double sided tape and placed them in a flat surface near the frame of the car.

That is stupid why they put it backwards? Anyways, I will give it a try after I get back home.
I haven't found a good place to put the ballasts since the wire is pretty short.

    Thanks

This is definetly a polarity issue. Do a search for HID install on Google and you'll see that some resellers have troubleshooting areas on their website. You'll find the explanation there. I too ran into this when installing but had read about it. Try flipping the other side also.

Both sides? I'm 100% sure that it is a polarity issue... or the metal pins that are inside the connector on pic #1 are not fully inserted into the OEM's plug. I'll try to take a pic or let you know which color goes where later tonight or tomorrow morning.

    Here is the kit.
Do you guys think the ballast might be damaged then it plugs into the factory wire harness at the first time?

Awesome, I also have 5000k. So what was the issue? Loose connection or reverse connector? In about 50-100hrs, it will look closer to 5300-5500k. Now you need to replace the ugly yellow parking light to match the HIDs.

I had to make an additional wire to connect to the factory harness. The wire came with the kit but I didn't know what it was. Yeah, the yellow parking has to go :)

I also installed the HID kit on my A3 too since it uses H11 bulb as well.

Cool, I had the same issue with that little metal insert... I had to push it in pretty far in so it would make contact. Nice A3.
