Does anyone out there have any reccommendations concerning smart phones usable in the '06 Prius. I currently am using Verizon service and would prefer a simpler smart phone. I only need addresses (contacts) and calendar which would sink up with Outlook. I don't need the smart phone to be a portable PC. Am I dreaming or does suce an animal exist?

With only 350 miles on my '06 I love it and it seems to be delivering about 42 mpg right now. I am a happy camper. :D

Love my Treo 650. PalmOS is much simpler to navigate and use than Windows Mobile. (My opinion, of course). Works much more like a simple address book and calender. Synching to Outlook is included. Works with the Prius.

I did it opposite. I got the Treo 650 first and now and I am waiting for my Prius - entered Port Newark today - delivery next week :D

How difficult was it for you to sync it with your Prius? Do you have any words of wisdom - anything(s) to avoid? Did you get the address book to sync too? How is the voice quality, ease of use??

I can't wait. I have not been this excited about getting a car for decades!

Update the software on your Treo. Synching should be easy. Phone book is tricky since it only takes one number per entry (on the 2004, better on the 2006 I believe), I only have a few entries transferred into one-touch locations.

Voice quality is pretty good, but it's a half-duplex speakerphone, so it's not perfect. (Not much can be done about this design-wise).

For me, the "killer app" is the automatically muted stereo followed by the ability to answer on the steering wheel. This prevents fumbling while driving.

Has anyone heard of a way to update tne nav system on an '05 to support the newer phones? I have a new Samsung smart-ish phone that works fine because it uses the same software rev as the older Samsungs. But someday I may have to get a new phone and I'm going to be buried in my '05 Prius!

I wasn't aware the Nav firmware upgrade changed anything in the bluetooth functionality (?)
