I have been driving for 54 years and have had many different cars through the years. Each one was named “SHASTAâ€. As in “SHASTA have gas or she won’t goâ€. Not original, I admit but the name seemed to fit so I stuck with it. Now I have a Prius and the name no longer fits. Any suggestions for a new name for my “baby†would be appreciated.

How about "Shana?" As in "Shana usin' as much gas as my old car."

What color is she? Sometimes you can work with that.

As mine is a Seaside Pearl, I named her Blue Belle in honor of our cat Silver Belle.

She's Silver. Maybe she could be called SILVERWARE as in "Silverware have you been all my life?".

My kids call my Tideland Pearl (green) "clover", and my '02 Blue Moon Pearl "Sparky" simply because at the time it was one of few hybrids out there. My wife's much bigger on naming cars than I am though.

My old Contour SVT was dubbed "Vroom Vroom" by the kids due to the exhaust note, and speed (and by me due to it's thirst for gas).

We named our brand new '05 T'Pol, after the Vulcan character on Star Trek. She speaks in an emotionless female voice, she has the same initials "Toyota Prius" <-> "T'Pol" and, um, she has really large headlights.

    :) Hi PROF

Having ALWAYS named my cars, since the well-used '31 Model A Ford 2-door sedan "Gallopin' Gertrude" in 1947, I was originally at loss for what to name my new '04 Prius, complete with NAV. It was the "NAV lady" who inspired the name. Seems the "NAV lady" came up with innane, totally unrelated responses to my verbal requests, like I'd say "Go Home" and she'd respond "Showing PostOffice Icons" or an equally strange response.

ERNESTINE was to be the name, after Lili Tomlin's telephone operator character on Laugh In a few years back. Ernestine STILL sometimes gives strange responses, but the name stuck.

I suggest picking something extremely esoteric.

I named my car Tachikoma, after a blue AI tank from an anime, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex.

They're smart, deadly, but they have the personalities of little girls. And they come in a kawaii shade of blue!

    Yup. That's my car.
