I was installing a carseat in the center seat position this morning and took the headrest out for that position. I decided to put the headrest in the storage space under the trunk, and noticed an indent on either side of the storage space. They're actually holders for each end of the cargo cover when you don't need it.

    Neat.

Yup. Time to gloss over the owner's manual again, and see what else you might have missed.

That rod that seems useless is to prop up the cargo floor cover.

There are lots of nice little hidden touches in the car. My cargo cover shade is stored in there right now. I put the back seats down too often to leave it in place.

My oldest cat (17 years old) is a car cat. She likes to wander around the back of a hatch style vehicle and look out the windows to see the world go by. I have to put the seats down and cover the back with a blanket (to collect cat hair and keep the car clean).

I couldn't believe the detail that they put into this car. One of my mom's complaints about their Explorer was that there was no place to put the cargo cover if they didn't want it in the vehicle or had the seats down.

Other little jewels include the bottle holders, however they do not accommodate Pepsi bottles all that well. Small water bottles are ok, however they tend to tip around a bit more than I like.

I know this may seem like nothing, but I like the place in the back of the glove box that holds the manual.

    Well. Back to reading...

It's everything haha. Yes, I use it to store the manual to. It's ingenious! How come I've never encountered a car with this tiny detail? Are they only on luxury cars?

That's one thing I like about Toyota/Lexus. Attention to detail.

Hey I do that too! I also put the Prius Emergency Response along with the manual like somebody else suggested in this forum. Then under the floor in the back, I put all kinda stuff there. I have couple bottles of water, some dry crackers, umbrella, flashlight w/ FM, air pump, ... the list goes on.

We use that area to hold CD cases so they don't rattle around....

Huh. I use the space right under the HU to hold at least three of my cases...What else can you use that space for?

I must admit, for them to have a six disc changer, and yet not enough room to hold six cases...well, maybe it's a small problem.

I keep the cases for CD's at home and put the CD's in a wallet. The storage under the stereo is a perfect place for my wallet when I am driving.

I've owned the car since 11/03 and I didn't even know that! The problem is that I have the Toyota carpet mat, a rubber mat to protect the carpet, AND the cargo net. So............. what's the easiest way to access that nice little cubby??
