It looks like the next major release of iOS will have AVRCP controls implemented (at least the 4.1 beta right now includes it) FINALLY!!!! This will most likely not be in the 4.0.1 release that might be coming later today (rumor). So any iOS beta testers care to try it out and report back? I'm curious if it will be full controls only or if we are going to get track info on the nav screen also.

I guess my letter to Apple letting them know how disappointed I was that my new iPhone 4 didn't have this feature was taken seriously and they immediately started work fixing it ;)

iOS 4.0.1 is out now, rather than 4.1 which recently went into beta testing.

    Heh, easy mistake to make.

As to the topic of the thread, I'll be a VERY happy camper if they finally implement full AVRCP support. Heck, I'll be happy if they just implement skipping tracks forward and backwards. :)

A cutting edge, novel feature called "antenna works no matter how you hold the phone." :D

It will allow all the steering wheel controls to work. Also hopefully we'll get track info on the nav display

I updated to 4.0.1 - well, I was held hostage by iTunes to update to 4.0.1 on my 3G - and didn't notice a difference. But, of course, I haven't been expecting one.

You will not see this change in 4.0.1. It should be in 4.1

So, now the big decision is:

    1. Have AVRCP for bluetooth control of audio from phone

    2. Have the ability to make the phone a mobile wifi hotspot with the jailbreakability of 4.0.1.

For those with USB connections, would you rather use BT audio streaming over hooking it to USB? For me, i much prefer USB because i get the full control and charge my Itouch64 at the same time.

I'd consider it if mine had the USB :(

    Hi Thai,

For me the USB sounds better, more DYNAMIC range in LOWS and Highs but it is a Pain in the *** to remember to remove the iphone from my holster and then, 1) Slide the armrest back, 2) flip open the armrest, 3) untangle USB cable (extra left in PRIUS perm), 4) connect the iphone

    vs.

Open the door, start the car and Voila the connection is made via bluetooth AUDIO and PHONE but no charging and poorer sound quality when compared to the USB cable...

Short trips 15 ~ 20 minute commute from work to home, BT... LONGER trips then USB.

So far this strategy seems to be working for me, YMMV but you'll have to decide on the PROs & CONs of each... ;)

    Good Luck!

I guess one could also get a small iPod shuffle for cheap and leave that in the car?

But for those of us who part the Prius in the sun/heat, leaving it in the car will likely shorten the Lithium battery life.
