So I decided to shave the Prius and of course the one time I didn't look on the forum to see if the emblems would leave holes. They did. So I took the back piece to a body shop and had them fill it in and shave the toyota emblem.

I also added a 7 inch vinyl black strip to my front windshield to help with the heat out here in New Mexico. The W7 isn't hooked up lol. I just had to transport it and wanted to see what it would look like. I also have a blendmount for my V1 as you can see in the background of the sub shot. I have the Zaino wax kit also here at home just haven't found the time to get it done. I also have 3% tint all the way around my car. Enjoy.

Shaved. (Note: That piece is made of plastic. I used a blowdryer on it and it warped the plastic! So only shave with GooGone!)

    Back piece removed.

    Vinyl Strip added.

You did an excellent job. The car looks very nice! Especially with the L7 in the back.. You must hook that thing up. Lets see some flex on the prius!! On a serious note - looks awesome. I love the 3% tint on the black car.

I'm not a big all black fan but nice work:cool:

Consider taking those cheezy plastic hub caps off so the nice looking 10 spoke alloy wheels show. The 10 spokers would look good with your black. You might want to paint them black too.

Just grab the hubcaps with you fingers and yank them straight off, no tools required.

@Lulz. Thanks man. I read your HID thread the other day. That is my next step and also changing out all the interior lights.. I'm considering blue I really like how it looks. Not a big fan of red. I had UV bulbs in my TC and those were nice so im leaning that way also. LOL get some flex on the prius! Not likely. I dont want to be "THAT GUY". Im saving the sub for another car. :) Im only 25 also. Since owning my prius I have come to realize two things.. Albuquerque is the land of the Prius. EVERYONE HAS ONE. But they are all older people. Which is great for me becuase cops don't even look twice at my car!!! Unlike my TC which was heavily modded.

@xs650. I will go outside and do that right now. My car is only 1.5 months old so I'm getting there :) Thank you for the great idea!

This is kind of off topic but related to your tint. (Which really looks nice BTW)

If I may Ask I'm always confused when people say 3% Tint, do you mean only allowing 3% light in? or only Blocking 3% of light?

My State (Oregon) is really Picky on this, I notice that New Mexico allows up to 80% tint (allowing 20% of light through)

You car does not look like a 3% Block but a 3% Pass? which would be illegal? can you help explain this?

I got the 20% from here New Mexico Window Tint Law - TintCenter.com

3% tint means it allows 3% of light into the vehicle. And yes it is illegal. I am obsessed with dark tint I cant live without it. My first car had two layers of 5% tint. Which is equal to .25% light coming into the car. That is beyond to dark its even hard to see out of at night. With the 3% tint I can still see out at night fine. I just like to roll my windows down when backing out of a drive way.

Like I said the Prius is the ultimate stealth mobile so police don't even look twice at my dark tint out here in Albuquerque. I even had 5% on my TC and I was never harassed out here. I just roll my front windows down when I see a police officer next to me.

That site said 20% light required? not 3% oh well I hope you don't get a ticket...
And thanks, Looks nice however They would pull you over big time in Oregon... :(

    Better not visit here... LOL

That's another thing I worry about Each State has different laws on Tinting.. So I guess If I tint my windows I have to find the strictest law and use that....

UGH! (I was lucky My last Car had a "Factory" Tint and They would never question it.)

Thanks again.. Nice car.. (I'm going to get a white one however, Cops Ignore White Priuses because they look like a Old persons car) LOL

@thepriusman. Well I always keep monopoly "get out of jail free" cards in my glove box. (true story) So if I do get pulled over I use it as an ice breaker. Then explain im not out to do a gang shooting in my prius. Im just trying to not get heat stroke! Everyone said dont buy a black car in the desert. Its true black is a part time job. But everyone has to have one in their lifetime :)

@xs650. I removed the hubcaps. WOW they look much better!!! But im kinda upset because now i want to paint the brake calipers!

As a fellow owner of a black automobile I will say shaved or unshaved your vehicle looks sharp. It looks real good.

I'm 43. Maybe it's just an age thing? But I admit I don't understand this desire to debadge an automobile. Why be so adamant about removing badging to create an anonomity but then simultaneously purchase personalized licence plates and a frame outlining your career profession?

So I don't want anyone to know I'm driving a Hybrid Toyota Prius, but my name is Quincy and I'm a Navy Veteran? Just seems like a conflict in psychology.

But it's cool. Looks great. The nice thing about getting older is that you don't have to be relevant, understand youth or even be cool. It's a liberating freedom.

You had a tC? I had one before my Prius too haha. You on SL or CStC?

Also you should black out those tail lights to be super stealth haha

LMAO I didn't want to say anything, I'm the same way, (I'm old 48) and I don't understand it either, remember the fad of PAINT everything the same color? To me it looked like you got your paint job at MAACO (A Cheap paint job) Like they didn't tape?

I personally like a little contrast on a car..
    However Two Tone? Nope..
(or remember the Ford station Wagon with the fake wood panels? My Neighbors had that when I was a kid.)

Anyway, If you like it, that is what counts IMO...

Cool car either way.. I hope you have MANY MANY miles with her Rock On!

You are at the awkward in between age. :D

Debadging was popular in the 1940s and 1950s into the 1960s. It's not done for anonymity, it's done to clean up the lines of the car.

As far as his plate frame, I served in the Air Force so understand the pride a person can take in their military service, even if it was the Navy:D:cool:

@the electric me. I didn't shave the Prius to make it anon. I also struggled with this for a few weeks if I was going to shave it or not. I liked the badging but curiosity got the best of me then I had to go all the way because of the holes it left. Although i do enjoy being the only shaved Prius in albuquerque! Its for uniqueness not anonymity. Also my name isn't Quincy. Its more of a handle but i also decided to give my car the name. (Yes I name my vehicles). As for the license plate frame. Another way to fly under the radar of police. Albuquerque is a highly veteran friendly city. I did my time and I'm proud of it. See it doesn't have to be psychological. Just in good taste. :)

@andino. I have been struggling with that also!!! I want to tint the tails so badly but I then I'm at the mercy of police because you cant roll down tail lights. Im on SL I posted a link in the beginning of this thread to my tC photos.

@priusman. OUCH! I actually had it professionally done. And the piece was removed from the car so there was no taping required. I can assure you the paint quality is that of OEM standards. I don't short cut its not my style.

@xs650. Im not going to burn the air force but good one. LOL :p

Sorry I didn't mean you skimped on Paint I meant I've seen other cars that look that way.

I love the honda Civics withy 10gals of bondo on them a home made air foil, and they think they are ready to race :)

    Oh well, Kids...
I hope you don't bake in the black car ;)

Take care, and thank you for your service. (I Appreciate It)

    :usa2:

Honestly I do, People don't realize we'd all be speaking German if it wasn't for our men in service...

Thanks for my recognition with my HID post. You should definitely change out your headlights to HID, and your interior lights to LED. One of the most dramatic differences ever. UV bulbs huh? That sounds NEAT! I was going to go with all blue LED's inside.. but I went ahead and just put some ultra white in the actual map light bulbs so I can "see". I totally agree with the Prius/old people/and cops. I could get by with doing things I probably shouldn't, just because of the profile of Prius drivers haha. I love it. As if I were to have another car with the HID's and dark tint I'd probably already be pulled over. I love my car and yours is excellent.

Sure that's fine. I did not mean to sound negative. I do think it looks good. Yesterday I voted in a poll with someone here asking where they thought the best place to put an additional emblem on their vehicle was,- today you show your shaved Prius...to each their own..

Whether it's the addition of emblems, the removal of emblems or the installation of a wood dash kit that makes it look like Noah puked up an Arc, as always...to each their own. Whatever makes you happy.

Ohh...that kinda shaved. See, if you'd said 'debadged', I would have known. Which gives my age away, but I like the look. :)
