2010 Prices Paid and Details

    don't use truecar as a price you should get. Use the truecar lowest certified price as a price point, and drop say $1000 off that price and work your way up from there. my truecar price for my prius II was $22,500. and i eventually got a dealer to sell me for $21,650. But the truecar price will show you if the price quote you get from the dealer is in the ballpark range of good or rip-off.

    I find it helps to pay in cash, dealers will be more willing to drop the price.

    Fellow member Dmanpizza and I have bought ours through longo toyota in socal.

    My specs:
    Blizzard Pearl Prius 4
    Solar Roof + Nav
    Illuminated Door Sills
    32,800 OTD (including taxes fees blah blah blah)
    (If I saw the papers correctly, salesman took ~800 commission and ~29k was their break even, the remainder was for ads and fixed costs)

    At first, my price point was 30k otd but it was not feasible, I tried pitching to 4 dealers in socal with no bites, so I had to raise my price.
    I bought this on july 5. Take advantage of 0%apr if you can. I really need to take pics, this car is sweet and its a huge upgrade from what I was driving previously. So far I'm satisfied but I think I could have haggled more.

    DO NOT PAY ANYTHING MORE THAN 32,800 OTD for this car. I feel the dealership should have gotten at most 200 commission for this because the vehicle sold itself! Haggle by phone and emails don't waste time going to dealerships, they will make you wait and waste your time. Once you settle the price the whole process shouldn't take more than 3 hours (credit check/test drive/financing/other shenanigans)

    Prius III with mats and sealant. Dealer was asking $25,900 but I got it for $23,486. Wondering if I should have looked for one with more options that was more expensive. I think I'll be keeping it around for a long time.

    2010 Prius IV Base Model in Winter Grey Purchased on 7/25/10:

    MSRP: $27,660 (Destination charge, carpet mats & wheel locks)
    Invoice: $26,135
    Price I Paid: $25,400 plus NY tax & DMV costs. There was no other fees.
    0% Interest for 36 months

    My first Toyota and my first Hybrid, previous vehicle was Infiniti G35 Sedan which got 20 miles per gallon. I still feel like I left some money on the table (not much though). I did decline the extended warranty which they were pushing hard. Based on what I know and researched declining the Extended Warranty is a good idea.

    Well all Prius IVs have leather, so the only option you're getting is nav. The prius IV MSRP is $26,600. Add $1800 for Nav.

    Their MSRP of $30,000 is completely bogus and has extra dealer add ons they wanted for profit.

    I'd say offer $28,000 Out the Door. So that price includes fees and tax and title and all that. If they don't bite, go to a different dealer. Nobody should pay sticker price on a new car... you can always get Invoice pricing or better.

    $28000 including tax, that sounds hard to imagine, the sticker shows 30,040, you think i get $4000 off sticker to get to $28k out the door,

    You are correct in your reaction that the deal the other poster advised you of is too good to be true. The advice that you were givien will not lead you to a deal. Prices are trending down since the model is closing out and sales at Toyota have taken a hit in the past 1- 1 1/2 months but that deal is not out there right now maybe it will be in the future but not now. Look at what folks are paying on this forum and Edmunds to give you an idea whats realistic and whats not. Find the invoice price (which includes destination charge) and offer $1k off of that. Also make sure your deal is inclusive of any fees other than tax & DMV costs. They can give you what seems like a good deal but then add a dealer fee of $_____ and then its not such a great deal. In this instance, all they did was move around numbers so be very careful and get everything in writing before you sign. Good luck.

    Hey, looking to buy a new Prius III, without nav or solar roof, in silver/dark.

    I got an offer from a major dealer for $22,998 (including the $760 destination charge), plus tax, etc. MSRP is about $24,800. Is this a good deal?

    Why is the sticker $30,040? Toyota.com shows the MSRP for a Prius IV to be $26,600.... Add $1800 for Navigation, MSRP for IV with Nav is $28,400...NOT $30,040. ???? That's the price from toyota.com, i'm not pulling out of nowhere.... And that's MSRP. Nobody ever pays MSRP unless they're naive and dumb.


    Too good to be true? Since when was paying invoice pricing too good to be true? Everyone does it all the time. Edmunds list a Prius IV with NAV invoice to be $27,646. So according to your advice, take $1000 off that price and offer...so if he offers $26,646... a price around $28k after fees is not so outrageous... so to the OP, dont listen to this joker. I bought my car 3 weeks ago for $1300 under factory invoice, i know what i'm doing when i give advice. What's the harm in offering that much? If they don't take it, they don't take it, oh well?

    Reading is fundamental. I said take $1000 off invoice and make an offer. I paid $800 plus under invoice and believe he can get even more than that considering he is getting the NAV. GOT IT, good! And do yourself a favor forum big mouth keep it closed and don't call me a joker. In fact, just go away. You clearly have a piss poor attitude and I would love to correct it but I can't through a keyboard.

    Sorry to bump, but I'm pretty sure my question got lost on the last page thanks to the scuffle above...

    I'm looking to buy a base Prius III, MSRP of about $25,000 when you include a few small accessories the vehicle has (bumper appliqué, door guards, etc). I've been offered $22,988, down from their original offer of $23,500. The other dealers I contacted offered between $23,300 and $23,700. Is my offer a good deal?

    A dealer offered me $28246 out the door price, is this a reasonable deal?
    The details are:

    pre processing 218

    PA tags 222

    I've had multiple different PA tags fees 222, 333, ...

    $22988 is a good deal. You're there around the invoice pricing after accessories. You could probably squeeze another 1-2 hundred dollars if you appear uninterested in the car and prey of their desperation. Or a better way to get a bargain is to accept that offer, but add conditions like say i want free tint or you know.

    $28,246 for a Prius IV with navigation out the door, now that's a great deal. Considering the joker above me saying such a deal was too good to be true and not possible, well WHAT DO YOU KNOW...here's a deal just like that!! ....

    Its a good price.

    We bought a III today, with the $127/$200 floormats. We turned down the $750 rebate to use the 0.0% financing, and paid $23473, plus TTL. It seemed like a solid deal, we weren't interested in fighting tooth and nail to get the best price. Was it a good deal?

    Did that price *include* TTL or was TTL on top of that price? I paid $21,539 then added TTL and mats to pay about $23,300 out the door.
