The ES was an 09 or 08, so maybe things had changed in the next generation. The GS feels more "sporty" for a big saloon than the ES which to me feels like it is trying to be a lincoln or some car people drive to Country Buffet for dinner at 3pm. That's why they make different models though, everybody has different preferences :)

My parents just bought 2010 ES350...it is one slick car! It is no handler, but it is an amazing daily driver! The 2010 update is very nice!

    Congrats! Beautiful car.

The 2010 is a midlife update, not a new generation but there are enough changes to make it worthwhile. (A little more wood trim inside, more chrome inside and out, new taillights, mirrors and alloys etc).

It's cheaper to run, more spacious (b/c of its FWD architecture that doesn't take up as much space as the RWD GS), can equipped with similar features (pano roof, DRCC/PCS, ML audio, 12-way power driver's seat w/ cushion extender, opt. premium leather etc) and it's a lot cheaper.

Yeah to me the 07-09 felt really cheap inside, mainly because of the lack of wood trim. They've added some and nice chrome accents this year and it makes a big difference. You should ask for a 2010 next time your RX is in for service. Ride and drivewise its probably about the same.

I'm also not much of a sporty car person, I drive a good bit and while I'd love to have something zippy for the weekends, when I'm sitting in traffic on the beltway I like having a bigger more comfortable car. What I would really like is an LS460...but the price of entry is nearly twice as much as the ES. Someday...

The 2010 is actually a good bit sportier than my 03, the engine note is a little more prominent, the ride has a little more spring in its step. The steering is a little heavier. Its enough to notice, but not enough to spoil the overall soft cruiser nature of the car.

Gave it its first bath tonight...

The Mercedes-Benz "CHEAP"(aka C) Class is just another over priced product sold to gullible people hoping that other people like themselves will imagine they have money that they really don't. If it weren't for such 'status' conscious foolishness MB would have to change an honest price for their not very reliable cars.

Clearly he's unaware of two other Mercedes-Benz vehicles below the C-Class

I am sure that he has that opinion because the C-class does not have enough metal surfaces for all his relective stickers! :D

The C-class is impressive, a bit expensive, but not anymore than your average German car. BTW, NYer, you need to read up on the construction of the C-class...or better yet, go to your local dealer and just open & close the door. In its class, i would say that it is probably the most solid piece of steel that you can buy! In a crash b/w a Prius and a C-class, i want to be in the C-class!

(Note: i do not own a C-class, but i do appreciate cars, no matter the brand.)

I went to SD to visit him this past weekend. He showed me around the downtown area in his MB. I have to admit that the MB is a very solidly built car. We drove over some bumpy roads and rail tracks and I heard no rattles what so ever. I can't say the same about my Prius. His MB is a lot quieter than mine too when the engines are on. It cornered pretty well too. He took a left turn at 35mph. I haven't felt G force like that since I test drove an E500 AMG at CES a few years ago. You may think that 35MPH left turn is doable but keep in mind we're in downtown San Diego where streets are 2 to 3 lanes wide and many are one way streets. We drove by Comic Con and all the bars downtown. Lots of beautiful women and some wearing clothe too tight for their own good. I'm talkin Michelin Tire Syndrome. After dinner I asked what other neat gadgets the C class has. Since it's a base model it didn't have much. One thing the C class has that I wish the Prius has is the live tire pressure display. It shows the pressures of each tire on the dash in PSI. He showed me the iPod interface tucked in his glove box. I asked if his MB support BT audio streaming. He tried all the sources his radio but couldn't get it to work so we concluded that it doesn't have BT audio streaming. I told him that I'm planning on replacing the interior lights with high power bulbs. He said that to be careful b/c new cars with CAN bus also monitors bulb power draw to determine if the bulb is good or blown and if the bulb draws too much power that it could fry the BCM. I know that some cars' BCM does this but does the Prius?
