Toyota has their national clearance event on now for about a week more. It seems to me their lease rates have been good for at least three months. Does anybody know what's going to happen come Aug 2 (?) and what the expectation is? I'm seriously considering leasing a Rav4 in addition to the Prius. The money factor on them is .0006 (equivalent 1.44% APR).

The sale will end, unless they don't sell enough cars, then it'll continue on until they do.

Your lease depends on how many miles, and how much they charge you for the car itself, not just the interest of the loan/lease. A 'Good Deal' is a perception, not reality if you don't know the cars cost to you. To compare lease deals take the total cost over the whole lease, the sum of all up-front costs and payments, and look at the features of the cars to be sure they compare. A Prius Five is better than a 3 model. Then if the mileage and term of the lease is identical you can compare the deals. The interest rate is hardly the proof of a good lease deal.

I've scoured the numbers. I believe the money factor is writ in stone by Toyota financial (FYI it's .0006 Rav4 and .0002 on camrys right now. I am not positive but it may have been .005 for Sienna, which is 12% APR). The residual is also set in stone by them, so that leaves the only other meaningful factor influencing the deal being the invoice plus any other silly dealer fees.

Invoices go up and down but the two local dealers I've checked are basically doing no-haggle pricing and are selling cars for the same cost. I checked a third online and the numbers also meshed.

Toyota at this time cannot be touched by any other brand for leasing, it is truly blowing all the competition out of the water with its money factors. I have looked at all the other brands. I even went to Dodge, got a quote on a Caravan, and when I told him what Toyota was doing on a Sienna he was crestfallen and stopped there and then even bothering to sell me the vehicle. I felt bad to be honest.

Mine was at .00008 with the rent charge only being 120 bucks. I'd like to trade in my Tacoma for another Prius (I'm really liking this car now) but I like the utility this pickup affords me. Also, I promised to drive it at least 200k miles. At 5 years, I'm barely over 60k so it will be a while before I get rid of it unless there's a hybrid version coming out soon.

    Hi!

I am new to this forum. Just leased a V w/ Nav yesterday, taking advantage of the "sales". MF=0.00022 offered with 2 years maintenance free. I think it is a pretty good deal. I traded my Audi A4 1.8T Quarto and really enjoy driving this new hybrid.

It is a good deal. What I hate most about the Prius driving it is the truck-size blind spot but what I love is the push button start and the fact you can park it in a cubicle, it's really beautiful to park with its incredible turning radius.

We did that back in June when I got 0% on the Prius, we also picked up a Rav4 lease so we would have a 4WD vehicle for my wife at around a .00058 or something money factor.

I don't notice a blind spot any worse than any other car. Just adjust the side mirrors properly (there is a post on this site somewhere) and you'll have no problems. The prius felt strange for a few weeks, esp with the bar in the back window, but you get used to it. Once you get used to the bar, the rear view isn't bad at all.

I find it horrific, backing up like into a parking spot I don't use the mirrors and really it is major tunnel vision! Vision out out the back looking at cars is fine, but looking side to side to ensure not running over a kid is something else.

My last vehicle was a Murano so I can tell you as a Prius Owner now that You truly have no idea what a blind spot really can be! You can easily hide an 18 wheeler in the Murano's blind spot!

Having been a member of that forum as well I can honestly say that most Murano owners will agree that it owns the blindspot championship...oh the price we pay for style!

There was a great article today about how Toyota could be making a really stupid move by pumping and inflating the residual of their vehicles right now for all these great deals. When in effect it could royally backfire on them and these prius' we all leased at amazing rates will be worth WAY less than the projected residual values.

And at the 65-68% residual values they are projecting...yeah, I can buy into that theory. I guess we'll see in 3 years.

It's possible. I mean I think I got my sale price on my base prius for about 22,300 or so can't remember exactly. If I did 12k/year they said residual was $16,800. That is 75% residual rate. In the end I went with a 15,000 residual with 18k/year. Isn't 67% super high for a car with 54k on it? I sure as heck wouldn't pay it.

Maybe not, though, I've looked around and people do seem willing to pay through the nose on these used. It's less of a problem on the 2010 prius and 2011 sienna; in 3 years the vehicles are part of the same model. However, with the huge lease deals on Rav4s now and 2011 Camrys I can only assume that they'll have a complete redesign by 2013 and that has to hurt resale.

Where did you read this article?

EDIT: Here Slashing lease prices could be a risky move for Toyota - latimes.com

Still love google. I'm not that ancient but really the internet is marvelous.

I'm just about in 3 years when I turn in my lease....and so is everyone one else who got an amazing deal this month. The used market is going to be flooded with them.

There's always some name for the current sales event. National Clearance, Spring into Summer, August Extravaganza... call it what you want. They will slow down sales on certain models by changing the promotions a little and increase what they want to by adding perks and changing up rates.

I'm pretty sure we'll see residuals drop a bit on most cars. Just a little here and there but enough to make sense. After all, 3 years from now, these are all going to be nearly 4 years old technically.

But, residuals are very reasonable considering what I see 3 yr old Prii selling for anyway. Unless gas drops to 75 cents a gallon, the residuals are realistic for 3-years down the road. There will be a lot of used Prius, yes, but there's always a need for cars that do 45-50 mpg. :)
